The Australian Gary Simpson is leading according to the leaderboard on the Sky Sports website. I have to say I haven't heard of this young up-and-comer

Simpson set to tie the tournament record round score of 63.

Question for you, is a tournament record the same as a course record?

Poulter is ticking along nicely here.

I'd say not necessarily based on terminology, but then we'd be left wondering when the record was got. Maybe it's one of those things that Augusta want the media to use

A course record is the lowest ever shot on the course. There are 361 other days in the year when the course is open.

Are the scores lower this year. Augusta doesn't seem to playing as tough this year. Slow grees due to rain is it?

Soft, much easier for these. Firm, fast greens are tougher.

Actually according to the info page about Augusta National, as opposed to the Masters, the course record is indeed the 63s shot by Price and Norman.

The only scores I've seen mentioned are from the Masters. It may not have occured to anyone to publish what a member shot.

I know, it's why I said based on terminology it isn't. I just don't see the record being broken outside of the Masters

Wow. Great shot from tiger. Lads if he can keep the c0ck in the pants tonight he might have a chance tomorrow.

Why not? Members' tees are more generous and flags are in friendlier spots.

Are you telling Augusta National that what they claim to be the course record, is wrong? I suspect the members tend to be older, wealthy golfers rather than young firebrands.
