Personally it's witcher3 followed closely by Bloodborne. God of war is 3rd. I personally couldn't get into red dead 2 but I had witcher3 for 2 years before I gave it chance. What about you guys. Am I missing something else

I thought God of War III was overrated imho although I can't argue with your other 2 picks. I was super psyched for Red Dead and online just made it one big flog.

Outside of RPG's, I'm a big fan of Apex Legends. I find it super addictive and have been playing lots of it. Rocket league never gets old either so that gets my vote also.

    Red dead 2
God of War, followed by Resident Evil 2 are my 1 & 2.

    Witcher3
Of that list, Bloodborne for me by a mile. As good as The Witcher 3 and RDR2 are, they have significant parts to them which just feel repetitive and you have to slog through them in the hope they pick up again which they do.

    These the only options?

Call Of Duty : Modern Warfare - Remastered.

The best of all the COD games for me.

I found the remastered version far less challenging than the original. That said, the game has remained hugely popular.

Grenades flying around left, right & centre!

Sekiro for this generation of games. But my favourite game of all time is shadow of the colossus and the remaster is amazing.

Is online still quite active? Are there many annoying tweaks they made to the remastered version?

Had actually been playing a decent bit of COD4 on PS3 there recently (yep the servers are still up), was absolutely loving it, such a good game...but for some reason I'm now getting an error message on start up so it doesn't work anymore...

Might get remastered on PS4...though I will need to get a PS plus subscription too if I want to play online

    Red dead 2
God of war for me. I just got bored with Red dead, I put a lot of hours into witcher 3 and same thing. I think the cut scenes in the witcher went on too long. **** off dandelion and your crazy antics.

PS Plus is well worth it when you consider the free games they give away. Neary pays for itself.

It really is. I've easily played over 1,000 games in my life and nothing has made me feel so consistently happy throughout the entire experience.

It's a living work of art.

I am playing games since the late 80s and nothing has come close to the feeling of utter joy I had while playing it.

I really enjoyed The Last of Us. Very well told story

This is right up there with my favourite games of all time. The story, gameplay and characters were all top class.

Trying to remain patient for PT2!

Agreed, Last of Us is my 2nd favourite... I don't usually pay full price for games these days but damnit I'll throw the full €60 or whatever when Last of Us 2 is released and get it day 1.

    Yep still very active.
It was the first game I installed on my fancy gaming PC I built in 2007....mind blown.

Red Dead, GTA V and Firewall would be my picks - never got the obsession with Witcher, bored out of my skull after 2 hours of it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,472 ✭✭✭Adamcp898

    Witcher3

Have only played 2 of them, but I'd class Witcher 3 amongst the best I've ever played.

Sure it may seem repetitive if you let it be, but there is just so much to it. I gave it a break to play other things and went back to it this week

This is my issue with it. There's loads to do, and if you're like me and you actually go and do all the side stuff, then you become over-leveled really early on and the rest of the game just devolves into going through the motions of going from point to point pressing the attack button knowing that you don't need to fight properly because not much can kill you. That's what makes it repetitive.

You need to give it ten hours at least to get into it properly

TLOU remastered followed by Bloodborne. Neither of which come close to the games I spent the most time on. Destiny/Division/Bf4
For PS4 I think Battlefield 4 as it ended up was close on perfect for a fps online shooter.

TLOU remaster is not only the best game on PS4, it is, for my money, the best game ever made. It has everything, characters we invest deeply in, genuine terror, some heart wrenching scenes, one of my favourite all time weapons in the simple bow and arrow, the pacing is bang on and learning curve is just the right pitch, its just the perfect gaming experience.

I put a lot of hours into Horizon Zero Dawn, and God of War. Did love TLOU, though.

    Red dead 2
For teh PS4, the top 3 would be as follows:

    God of War
    The Witcher 3
    Horizon: Zero Dawn

For me, these are the must play games (in that order, GoW is simply fantastic) of this gen.

Castlevania Symphony of the Night is on PS4.

Therefore every one of you is wrong by default.

That's a fair shout. I would have played CV way back when in the 16bit days, what's the gist of the new one in terms of play?

None of your list really shone for me personally.

Destiny easily took most of my life on PS4. Roughly 400 hours which is huuuge for me.

Fighting games were huge for this generation as well with Tekken 7 being the highlight for me. Just such a polished and fun fighting game. But there were so many... Mortal Kombat, DBZ, Injustice, Street Fighter, etc...

    Current games I’m enjoying are

Power Rangers Battle for the Grid. Mental fun 3 v3 fighter.

Apex Legends, what can I say about the game that overtook Fortnite!

And Borderlands most recently. Can’t believe this game passed me by for so many years.

It’s pretty easy to see the kind of games I enjoy. Lol.

I’ve tried to get into bloodborne a few times now but haven’t got past the first boss yet. I will at some point when the children aren’t pestering me.

You've seriously not played symphony of the night? It's basically the perfect marriage of metroid and action RPG. It's just one of the greatest games ever made.
