I have had problems with one of my front teeth ever since I cracked it when I was 12.
8 years ago I had a root canal on it and a hard painless lump that was above my tooth was drained. The lump has since re-appeared,like I say it is painless but more of a dull ache and causes swelling sometimes on my face as it is underneath my nose.Has anyone had an experience with something like this?

It sounds like an abscess. I have a root canal in one of my front teeth and a few years ago i had something as you have described. Initially the pain was unbearable but eventually subsided. The dentist said the abscess found somewhere to let the fluid out (spot on gum under nose) which relieved the pain. I had to have the root canal re done afterwards.

Go visit a dentist. Especially if you are having facial swelling.

It could be that the tooth has become reinfected and might need re root treatment or apicectomy or extraction and replacement.
Often in trauma cases the adjacent teeth also get some impact and can subsequently go dead over time. Not possible to tell from an internet post.

An exam and some x rays will more than likely get to the bottom of this.
