Bump, could not find any update on Johnny Ronans Tara Street Tower project.

If in the wrong category Mods, please edit.

Looks like D.C.C. have rejected a fresh application by Ronan to change status from Hotel to Office/ mixed use.

Ronan is right, hotel hospitality is dead until we get a vaccine for covid-19. Why D.C.C rejected the new application is beyond me?

See Irish Times, paywall enabled unfortunately.

Its a shame I was looking forward to see this project go ahead.

Just to have Capital Dock and the Exo on Dublin's low level skyline is disappointing considering its a European capital city..

Cork Co Co. on the other hand have given permission to a 34 story building in the heart of the Port of Cork. Looked at the plans, looks very impressive. Some Irish/ American property consortium behind it.

By the time it's built there'll be no concern of C19. Offices are more long term dead than hotels are. Working remotely will allow for future lockdowns for other reasons or allow for better life-work balance, 3 days at home 2 at work sort of thing. People will still go on holiday in the future though. Ronan ultimately doesn't have finance to build much of anything, these are stalling tactics.

    Pity it isn't 122 storeys.

Should be a minimum of 50 storeys for new builds in certain areas.

Nobody is lending for Hotels office blocks at the moment
Ronan is in deep doo doo again
Plenty of developers that had planned to build offices /hotels this year are having sleepless nights
