It will restrict the flow during peak time and may cause back up onto the local one way streets which are narrow with tight parking.

It is funny, but the residents may end up regretting their opposition. There nice quiet street jam packed with cars waiting and not being able to get out of their own drive way. It really sounds like it will end up mush worse for them then what was being proposed under Metrolink.

Be careful what you wish for.

It’s an old area lots of the houses use on street permit parking, I could see a few people having issues even getting out of their space on the street. Whilst I don’t think it will be as bad as some think especially during the day or evening when the tram frequency and the traffic will ease I think the rush hours especially the morning one could become a right pain for locals.

The Green Party has recommended that the proposed Metro route be extended below the Luas Green line to Beechwood to solve the problem of excess demand on this route.

Not sure if this was posted already. Of course, you should check the date.

If the locals are too thick to realise the benefits of a metro line then perhaps they deserve to learn the hard way. However its not really their fault - govt should be overriding these people.

As for the greens, not sure why a 2% party are getting so much airtime on this subject. They must be the only green party on the planet who successfully blocked a metro line through their own constituency because it would inconvenience cars. And now they're only realising the negative impact of that course of action.

    Laughable.

I think it's far more cynical than that - they already have a TD in that constituency, and it's quite unlikely they'd get another. So they want the Metro to go somewhere they don't have a TD...

What's the rationale for the FG, FF and Lab guys wanting it to go elsewhere then?

Voters are voters! Of course Labour don't have much of a chance in south Dublin compared to FG who are usually a shoe-in
