The local election trail seems to be hotting up with numerous Councillors not running this time and a whole host of first time candidates.

It will be interesting to see what way it will work with new Local Election Area's.

The main changes will be as follows:

    • At present there are 5 electoral areas (Carrick-on-Suir, Cashel-Tipperary, Clonmel, Templemore-Thurels & Nenagh.
    • The county will now be divided into into eight local electoral areas, to be formed around the towns of Nenagh, Newport, Thurles, Roscrea and Templemore, Cashel and Tipperary, Cahir, Clonmel, and Carrick-on-Suir.

Is there a map showing exactly what the changes to the electoral areas are?

Based on tallies from Tipp FM on Twitter

Looks like Mairin McGrath will take Martin Lonergan's seat in the Cahir Electoral area. Other three seats will stay with the Current Councillors (Maloney, Murphy & Anglim). Basically done and dusted bar the actual count.

Three candidates (Ambrose, Murphy and English) are way ahead in Clonmel and will all be elected on first count. Murphy's surplus is 600 votes and will bring Ahern in. Real scrap for the last two seats after that.

Goldsboro will be elected on first count in Carrick. 5 candidates scrapping for the 4 seats after that.

Michael Fitzgerald has two quotas in Cashel And Fine Gael on course to take the first 4 seats when his surplus is distributed.

No one elected on first count in Thurles but Lowey Hannifin and Peter Ryan look safe. Real fight then for last two seats between three of four candidates.
