Ah we can console ourselves with Waterford while Limerick and in time, Galway and Dublin, power ahead.

Lost by basically less then 1%

These should surely be called again when Dub and Galway do theirs.. when there will actually be coverage.. might make too much sense though

    Waterford's a No (51-49)

Yep was just on the news. Surprised RTE said it was a basically a joke that there was no campaign, usually they don't criticise things like that

Beyond embarrassing if we join small town Waterford in the No camp while Limerick says Yes.

This will be a calamity if it doesn't pass in Cork

Excuse me - that's small city Waterford if you don't mind!

It was a bullsh1t proposition sold without any conviction or plausible detail. As I put it on the Waterford CITY board
    Mayor
    ?
    Profit

Limerick might think they've gained an advantage but it's hard to see what it might be. Assuming the process actually continues should 2 of 3 reject it.

Limerick have gained an advantage, if nothing else the people in Limerick have indicated they want more powerful local government reform. A no vote is a vote for the status quo.

If Dublin was on the same day, Cork would surely vote for it. The Dublin vote is being delayed until a proper public discussion on the matter is held........

Are they rounding the totals as they come in? No way it’s bang on ‘000 s each time.

Open to correction here but they're observing the cabinet above where the votes are being stored in batches of 1,000. It always seems to be x amount of yes and the same amount of y in the cabinet.

Looks like it, seems to be swinging between a few hundred in favour to against with each count update.

Just depressing. The echo have been a disgrace in this campaign, banging the salary drum.

I have no doubt Galway and Dublin will vote for this proposal leaving Cork and Waterford our in the cold. Unbelievable.

Won't it be wonderful watching the components of LMATS opening as we watch the Cork politicians getting excited at getting €100k for another appraisal of the Cork Luas line.

Really disappointing if it comes out as no - in Cork of all places conceding power to Dublin. Although not one bit surprising given the lack of campaigning, lack of clarity on the issue, and the ridiculous bull**** in the papers about the cost of it. The benefits of it will massively outweigh the cost of it in the long run. And that's aside from the fact we don't live in Rwanda where €500k gets pissed away on far worse on an hourly basis.

The real capital indeed where we want all decisions for us to be made in Dublin. I cannot fathom this result. It’s just unbelievable.

It'll be off the agenda if it fails which it looks like, whereas Limerick can bang the drum for more autonomy as that's what they voted for. Truly embarrassing. Cork people happy out to continue to be steered by Dublin.

It was all about a mixture of lack of clarity and assumption that it was too expensive.

The information campaign from those with a big platform - political parties, was abysmally poor and the proposal was not clear.

I'd argue that this should have gone to a citizen's assembly type process and all 5 cities should have been included so ensure there was a national debate.

The plebiscite was real cart before horse stuff.

Eoin English can barely hide his giddyness at the result. "its a no, like" typical of the local media here who have been bulling for this to fail for some unknown reason.

According to Buttimer today on 96FM if rejected it'll be run again as is or after the citizens assembly work on it.

Which may not be the worst if it's actually thought out properly this time

    https://twitter.com/PierceKennedy/status/1133015259076337664

Even if it's a no it'll likely be 50:50 within 2% or so so the issue will be far from put to bed.

If it does go again, it needs a much MUCH better Yes campaign behind it. This one was abysmal.

Preferable also not chucked in with 3 other ballot papers.
