I was in the audience one Christmas, on a diet for medical reasons at the time, what was the audience prize but a whole horde of Butlers chocolates, and me living alone with the cat.

Will they be playing their Eurovision hit?

'I hope not. That song wasn't one of their best. Written by John Watters. THere's always 2 or 3 of them playing unplugged in Shoots pub during the week. Always a pleasure compared to that sh1te.

Tubridy excelled at the camouflage training at his army trial.

But only because he was standing behind the flagpost at the time and was hidden

I hate all that oul shouting and effing BS to sound tough and hard. Means nothing. Some of these lads think they came through the trenches in WW1 and they're only mouth pieces that have done SFA.

It's to create stress for the recipient of the shouting, not to sound tough and hard per-se.

It's still BS. I wouldn't find it stressfull. You focus on what you're doing.

He should ask them how real they thought Delta Force was with Chuck Norris.

Throw them into the 'meat-grinder' of Verdun in WW1 and see how strong they are mentality.

Today's combat does not compare, especially in the Irish army.

You would. Talk to people who've actually done it. Easy to say you wouldn't when sat at home nice and warm.

Or Arnie and the lads looking for Predator, they were proper soldiers

We have valid reason to sneer at people for the moving statue thing in the eighties, the same way future generations can sneer at us for that Garth Brooks thing a few years ago.

Feckers here told me the baby gorilla from Dublin zoo was gonna be on the Late Late show tonight...and I believed them.

The moving Mary's after the break, hopefully will make up for the disappointment.

If I learned nothing else from watching 'Platoon (and I didn't) it's that soldiers can't sing and shouldn't try singing Smokey Robinson songs

Mary made a fortune selling bobble-head statues to the masses...so to speak

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,677 ✭✭✭CH3OH

Doesn't warrant a seat on the sofa.
Actually doesn't deserve a second of air time

Evening all. Love a few moving statue stories. Why did they stop moving after the 80s?
