Sterling cheques

Do Irish banks still process these?

My friend got one recently and needs to dispose of it. He is based overseas and his local bank won't take it. He still has an Irish account so he was going to give me the cheque to take into his bank to lodge.

Will I be able to lodge his cheque to his account?

I am with Bank of Ireland, have no problem putting sterling cheques in.

That's all well and good but doesn't answer my question.

Surely it does answer the question if your friend Banks with BOI?

The only issue is the procedure used.

I asked specifically if someone else could lodge his cheque.

No problem lodging a cheque to someone else's account, as long as the name on the cheque matches the name on the account. Your friend could even post the cheque directly to the branch his account is in.

    You asked specifically:

"Do Irish banks still process these?"

    and

"Will I be able to lodge his cheque to his account?"

Scoop 64 took time to answer.

But yes - as long as the cheque is in the name of the account holder its ok.
