This could be important scoring difference wise...

Still bemused that there is this notion of a top 4 or 5 teams in the country.

Petulant classless, they were the same in the 90s but at least then they had talent.

You talking about Meath or Mayo?

There isn't 8 "super" teams in the country. The QFs always had some poorer teams getting there.

Dublin, Kerry, Donegal & Tyrone. Then maybe 5-10 teams of similar level.

    :rolleyes::confused:

Hard luck to the meath keeper

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,813 ✭✭✭corny

Keeper was slow to get back up.

Never a penalty. Was outside square. Could make a huge difference if teams tied on points.

You'd have to think the meath backs were also slow to chase in the rebound

A one point win will be enough, in Mayo's hands then

That much diving from the Meath lads they must have expected to be driven to the national aquatic center not croker.

  • Registered Users Posts: 592 ✭✭✭White lighting

I would be very surprised if Mayo dont beat Meath by 8+ points. Croke Park suits Mayo and they always seem to trive playing up in it. Added to the fact Meath are the worst team left in competition by a long shot i just cant see it been a close game at all

As predicted and lads were saying I was on the wind up. Meath are brutal

    :rolleyes::confused:

A Mayo team hammered by Kerry and struggled for 60 minutes against a Meath team who scored 4 points against Dublin. Meath are brutal and with how much they wasted when the game was still up for grabs they could have been 5 ahead.

    You're right though. Scintillating Mayo!

Without a massive turnaround in form they're going nowhere.

And look who gets man of the match. A lad that should of been sent off.

Meath ‘antics’ and anti football again making them as dis likable as some of their 90s team, would like to see the ref clamping down on stuff like pulling the ball out of the Mayo free takers hands not to mention the cynical fouling.
    Strumms wrote: »
What a point, Meath in rugby tackle mode and the quality of Mayo comes to the fore still. Ref needs cards out though
Meath man steal your missus? :pac:

Funny how it’s a penalty when a Meath player blocks a Mayo player (even when it’s outside the box) but it’s play on when a Mayo player blocks a Meath player.
Yet again our forward play killed us. I think we’ll get a couple of All Star nominations in defense but missing simple scores and losing the ball in contact means better teams will overpower us in the end.

These games will hopefully bring us on a lot for division 1 next season. I hope McEntee goes back to a few players who dropped off the panel last season because you simply cannot be without your best players and expect to compete.

    Dessie Dolan on co-commentary. FFS!

Boyle was excellent throughout today. He was probably Mayo's most consistent performer.

He must have some serious dirt on someone in RTE

If he was sent off I don't think he was getting man of the match.

McGee injured? Missed them saying why he wasn't playing.

No, but he did steal a can of lilt in 1993

Terrible line ball by Donegal which lead to Kerry's second point

Kerry not getting the hometown ref today.

Referee in the last game ignored that exact same kickout. Am i Right in saying the ball cannot be collected from inside that semi-circle?

Kerry did it multiple times last week and weren't pulled for it either.

Good refereeing to spot that bit of cynicism, would have cost Donegal a point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,230 ✭✭✭✭RMAOK

Will this now be thrown up?

    EDIT: obviously not

Kerry are gradually getting stronger. Donegal letting themselves down as regards decision making and teamwork in the final third.

Did my ears deceive me or did Ger Canning say that Shane Enright was one of the best man markers in the game?

Watching it from the stands I thought Dublin were poor today by their own standards. They left huge gaps in their defence and where all over the place with Roscommon unable to convert goal chances.

Thats how insanely good this Dublin team is!

Roscommon on the other hand were poison. They never had the belief they could get something out of this game. Its a mental thing when they get to Croker that they just fall apart. Galway or Mayo would have put up a better battle as mentally tougher in Croker.

While i agree with the majority of that......Galway have won a grand total of 1 game in Croke park in 18 years

Donegal got away with one there

    That's embarrassing. Wasn't touched.

    Was that reallly a black?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,856 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

Couple of goal chances already for Kerry. I suppose Donegal will tighten up a lot more in the second half.

    Lovely point by McBrearty.

What was White thinking of ?

How the hell was that a black card...

  • Registered Users Posts: 209 ✭✭lillielad

    Neither were blacks imo...

Will someone take the black card off the ref. First one was harsh. Second one must be something I missed.

  • Site Banned Posts: 60 ✭✭Karma King

Classic case of evening things up there with that black card. Woeful refereeing!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,136 ✭✭✭✭How Soon Is Now

Very soft black cards for both sides. Especially second one.

The standard, pace and skill wise of this Donegal v Kerry game is like chalk and cheese compared to the Meath v Mayo game.
