People leaving to put money on Meath to win it at the death?

Rte didn't even mention it. Doesn't fit the narrative. Am neither a hurling or football snob but the football this weekend has been absolutely awful. No excitement in it anymore. High score in the Munster final but very small crowd at it. The interest in the football doesn't seem to be there anymore.

Beautiful point from Dean Rock there!

Why do people think its an anti Dublin thing? I just want to see good matches. I like watching Dublin as they usually play the game really well.

Why would there be an interest?
    Like in all honesty?
It’s a one team championship. At least the hurling is a contest.

Look at today, even the Dubs aren’t going to games!

Imbalance ? You mean it wasn't an issue between 1995 and 2011 when the Dubs couldn't win an All Ireland.

But it is now that they are winning. Right.

15 vs 15 still though yeah ? Time for the others to up their game perhaps ?

Compare the spending on the dublin set up between those years compared to now. Its not Dublins fault that the gaa has invested millions into the game in the capital in the last 15-20 years, we are seeing that bear fruit now. Give the hurling another 15-20 years it will be same story.

To limit it to the 15 v 15 on the pitch is a joke when you factor in the machine behind it.

Asking other counties to get their house in order is like p*ssing into the wind.

In an amateur organisation, finances shouldnt be another advantage when you already leverage a huge population.

If Louth, Roscommon or even Meath get their house in order and make the best of their 150k or 500k budget every year, to use a boxing quote, a good big guy will always beat a good little guy.

Centralise every sponsorship deal and divide it equally amongst 32 counties. Maybe then the best players in Laois or Waterford wont feck off to the US/Australia for the summer. Something dublin dont have to worry about as they can easily be replaced on the conveyor belt.

    So poor from Meath

The Dubs probably have tougher games in training.

The Meath supporters are all off to Dunshaughlin for a big feed

    Paddy Small off.

    Paddy Slightly Bigger on.

Meath have scored one point from play in 65 minutes. Defensively they have done ok but demoralizing the missed chances.

Fair play to any meath supporter who turned up today.

That was deliberate, conditions played fûck all in that, potential season ender there. Poor refereeing waiting for a turnover too and then blowing up.

The cards situation is the same mess as it was last year. No black cards today, and no doubt there will be some ridiculous black cards for far lesser offences next week.

I'm from Dublin, so it's not anti Dubs, it's pro-sport.

This is exactly like the USA v Thailand game in the women's World Cup and like that match, would have you never wanting to watch another game.

If every campaign is a slow and dull procession to the same team destroying everyone else, why would you bother?

Dublin could have put out 3 different teams today and they'd still beat this meath team.

Fellas on here bashing the structure of the hurling championship earlier. That’s exactly what football needs. Meath are way off.

The Leinster SFC - a complete and utter farce.

    Well done to the GAA.

What's so annoying about this game, is that Meath had a real chance to make this interesting. They went toe to toe for 1st 10 minutes and had all the better chances, they held us Dubs to 5 points at half time. And if they'd taken their scores the belief might have grown. I mean even the 2 posts early in 1st half would have had Meath level or leading for most of that half. All those terrible missed frees.

But chance blown, belief drained, and Dubs turning the screw now. All that hard work of 1st half will be forgotten when people look at this score line now.

Dublin will not win this year. Wait until they play a few of the division 1 teams

I actually don't think Meath have done so bad today. I fancied Dublin by over 20 points today so Meath have surprised me how well they have done.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,217 ✭✭✭✭RMAOK

Dublin could have put out 3 different teams today and they'd still beat this meath team.

If meath kept playing until midnight, they wouldn't reach 10 points regardless of what team the dubs had out.

Refereeing now defaulting to the typical amateur GAA bull**** of slowing for Meath anytime a Dub coughs near them.

3 points scored and a 17 point defeat is not 'giving it a shot'

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,375 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

That’s a fairly tragic score line, 3 posts in 70 mins is just unbelievable.

Well they had lots of shots, but they nearly all went wide!
