Boxes haven't arrived at the count centre yet. They're separating the referendum and European papers at the RDS and then the council boxes will go to Citywest this afternoon.

Daniel Whooley just posted that picture on twitter!

Roderic topping poll easily in Castleknock. Massive surplus.

No surprises to see Mary get in that easily. Not to diminish her achievement either but after the likes of Mary and inanimate carbon rod would get elected in that LEA over the other poor candidates.

O'Gorman and Currie elected on the first count in Castleknock. Hanaphy (SF) elected in Blanchardstown/Mulhuddart on second count.

With Donnelly votes being disbursed you would expect Doyle, Waine and Whooley to be the biggest winners. Which might put Dennison under pressure. Especially if Doyle's are the next to be passed down.

Not sure about the Hanaphy result. SF tweeted that she'd been elected, but not seeing it anywhere else. Maybe they jumped the gun a bit?

Turnout in Blanchardstown Mulhuddart was woeful. Looks like lots of people were disillusioned/frustrated with the dreadful selection and the mishmash LEA

In fairness, it wasn't a whole lot better in Ongar.

Yeah, couldn't find it anywhere either.

Wishful thinking on SF's part, it seems. Although she looks in a strong position to get elected on a later count.

No Green candidate in Mulhuddart in a green-tide election.
Reckon any of us could have been a councillor now if we'd joined the party and filled in the election forms. Probably not even have had to bother putting up a poster or campaigning.

I saw a political correspondent on twitter who had an Aountu candidate who had left the greens come up decrying his fate. Hindsight is 20:20 and no poll showed it was worth the time and effort for them. Be really interesting to see now if it keeps up at GE time or if it’s purely a “sure locals don’t matter I’ll send a message” vote. O’Gorman has been working hard for a long long time for the Greens in Dublin West and it would be a good reward to finally get that coveted Dail seat.

As for Mulhuddart itself, what an abysmal turnout for an area with obvious problems that people will be moaning to the council about over the coming years.

They cannot complain if they didn't vote. The least they could have done is to vote for the least-worst candidates.

Fingal County Council is putting detailed updates on Twitter this morning.

Tania Doyle (ind.) elected on the 5th count in Ongar.

She was the hardest candidate to find any info on - no home page, her twitter account was mostly just retweets and her description said something like "I will do what I say, who else can say the same?". But I never found out what that was. Good luck to her anyway, she had less posters than some of the other candidates.

She used to be with Solidarity but left last year or year before.

Breda Hanaphy confirmed elected for Blanch-Mulhuddart. Her party mate, Damien Bissett has been eliminated.
