Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So with a potential Arsenal/Chelsea EL final, what effect does that have on CL places? Is there any way 4th could lose the spot? Not worried or anything...no, not at all :pac:

    None.

    As it stands right now.

Man City, Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea are in the Group Stage of next Seasons CL.

Arsenal are in the Group Stage of the EL and Man Utd are in the 2nd Qualifying Round of the Europa League.

Changes that can happen start with Man City V Watford in the Cup.

If Man City win the Cup then Man Utd will move up to the Group Stage of the EL and whoever finishes 7th in the League will go into the 2nd Qualifying Round.

If Watford win the cup they go into the Group Stage and Man Utd stay in the 2nd Qualifying Round. That is how the 7 spots will stand before the EL and CL Finals.

If there is no change in the league and Liverpool or Spurs manage win the CL the only change there is that they would join Man City in Pot 1 in the draw next season.

If Chelsea win the EL they will be in pot 1 of the CL next season.

If Arsenal win the EL they will be in pot 1 of the CL next season with 5 English teams in the CL and 2 in EL.

Really? Surely if Spurs finish top 4 and win the CL then they will effectively have 2 entries to next years competition?

Good for them, but surely if both those entries aren't used then the competition would end up a team short next year? I thought that was why entries generally drop down to the next in line if the team/winner had already qualified.

Spurs would have to win the Champions league and finish outside the top 4 for it to effect 4th so you're safe from that at least,

    So you're saying there's a chance :pac:

No, if Spurs win the CL the only change is that they will be in Pot 1 of the draw not a pot based on their UEFA ranking which was Pot 2.

Spurs would take the spot of CL Holders but since they have already qualified from the League too then it will have a knock on effect on the qualifying rounds where teams maybe knocked up a starting round or such. Sure this current season Real and Atlético Madrid went into this years Champions League was winners of last years CL and EL with no extra spots for Spain. What will happen is that teams will find the knock on effect in the Qualifying Rounds

Everton battering Burnley. We look good. Only when the pressure is off unfortunately

Ashley Westwood with a disgraceful tackle on Schneiderlein right under the referees nose. Only gets a booking, was as clear a red card as you will ever see. Surprisingly Schneiderlein didn’t react badly too it, which possibly saved Westwood. Proof there that referees judge challenges based on players reactions?

Controversy here. Did Dier foul his man and should he be off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Bridge93

    Dier didn’t touch that

Pawson is hell bent on keeping 11 Spurs players on the pitch and.

They should have had 2 pens too

That one was a penalty. The Lloris one wasn't.

    Amazing bad officiating.

Son has gone mad - he seemed so nice but that's two incidents in two weeks.

Lerma’s reaction everything that is wrong with football. Too many overpaid morally corrupt dickheads.

Definite red there. Ref had no choice. Dirty by the Bournemouth player though.

The referee and media darlings should be down to 9 now and have had 2 penalties conceded already.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,722 ✭✭✭golfball37

Definitely a red as was Diers.

If pushing a player like that is a red then there should be a red every game.

2 pens and a Dier red card. Son paid for all his bad decisions in the end because the crowd got to him.

Spurs are quite a dirty side when the pressure is on. Bournemouth can certainly win this

He reacted by pushing someone down. Regardless of how easily the Bournemouth player went down, its a red card all day long.

Spurs can be brilliant or Dier.

It’s not a red card to push somebody like son did whether they fall down or not. It was a poor decision like all the other poor decisions.

The way Lerma goes down is absolutely pathetic.

    Still a red.

Should definitely have been a penalty to Bournemouth, and Spurs should be down to nine men. Terrible from the ref so far.

I've seen it posted online elsewhere that Son kicked out at him as well, I couldnt see that in the angle I seen myself but maybe that's why he went down holding his legs

Craig Pawson and his referee team having a display typical of the poor standard throughout the season.

The time Bournemouth were on the break but Son had gone down he blew to end their chance pointing out we have a potential head injury here despite that not being the case it's like he wanted to be seen making a decision like this at the first opportunity to suck some praise on himself after the talk about concussion during the week.

How is Dier still on the pitch??

Young Irish keeper has been the highlight of the match so far, great to see.

    Trying to rectify things now.

In danger of missing the CL next season. Could be a major problem with the huge stadium debt hanging round their necks

    Dangerous high tackle too
Not sure what the fcuk Alan Smith is having an issue with there; Foyth went in, studs showing, and caught the player around the knee. It's a red card.

Spurs really would be totally be Spursing it missing out on Champions League next season by falling apart in the league and going out of a Champions League semi final in the final week of the season.

It would be brilliant if they did it as well and Arsenal and Chelsea got that Champions league spots.

Between injuries and suspensions they'll have to play a few of the under 10s against Everton.

Spurs really are a weak club mentally. Hopefully Bournemouth finish the job now.

Bournemouth should just run at the defence.

Howe showing himself up here a bit now as the next big thing manager/coach.

Spurs with 9 players and his team really don't know what to do on the pitch.
