Bonus points to the driver of the silver car for realizing what was happening to the jeep behind him.

Try searching for "Dashcam" in the motors forum.
There was a specific thread just for discussing what to get.

    Standard stuff, really.

^ ye exactly - 3 cars going through stop a stop signal.. we need a dash cam thread that shows people stopping at lights and generally obeying rules!

Actually - maybe we should try and promote positive experiences and give kudos for good sh*t?

Dashcam video of a BMW driver using indicators would be quite a rare thing as well. :P

I saw that once. Santa was driving with Jesus in the passenger seat. And he slowed down to let someone out of a side road too.

I wouldn't actually class the first 2 as RLJs, given they were on a slight bend then dropping the anchors that close to the lights would have destabilised the cars and risked a loss of control, however that last car.....well the less said the better

First car no, the middle lane probably too late to stop, right hand lane, could easily have stopped on the amber, and the last.. well as you said! :D

If I was the car in the right lane I would probably have done the same and argued the same.. but on that road, I don't think a car would have an issue stopping.

Anyway - the concept of anyone in Ireland actually stopping on Amber is laughable! We should probably just change the law at this stage!

Some traffic lights are more amber than others.

Guy leaves a biker injured on the side of the road because he dared to overtake.. That will teach em!

Yeah seems to have got the biggest reaction. You'd swear he was overtaking in a truck the way they freaked.

    it aint cheap ...

next base 512 g camera with 128 gig card with blackvue b112 battery

    set cam for parking mode

first time = drive around for a few hours to charge the battery b112 and it will keep camera alive all day while ignition is off
from then on as long as you drive car every day

cable the cam to the battery and the battery to the 12volt cigarette socket

you need a 12volt socket that is OFF when ignition is off.

    i got the battery here

Or just wire it permanent on, as long as car battery and charging system are working correctly.

If a dash cam drains your car battery in such a short time you need get a new car battery.

Hybrids have a 12 v battery and will drain in 5/ 10 minutes ( only used for starting engine) Honda insight hybrid

I run my BlackVue off a powermagic pro. Wired to an always on fuse, and has a selectable voltage cutoff. If the battery level drops to the selected level, the power supply is interrupted.

There's plenty of affordable solutions. I use a Viofo A129 with HD recording front & back.

Connected to battery via cutoff switch when voltage drops too low - see here.

Cam saves battery with a "Buffered Parking Mode".
In buffered parking mode, A129 Duo dash cam records not only accident results but also the impact. When an event is detected, a video sequence (starting 15 seconds before the event and finishing 30 seconds after the event) will be saved permanently.
Generic cutoff kits that connect straight into your fusebox can be found easily like this.

    yes, thats my point ,
you cant run a cam without a battery or a car battery cut off .
a ' short time ' can be up to 8 - 10 hours sitting in a work car park

Cigarette lighter socket in BMW turns off when car goes to sleep approximately 16 minutes after doors are locked.

Use a motion detector, this one comes with low voltage sensor also...

    so in summary

if 12 v socket is used
if socket stays ON when car is off -
you need a battery manager in between the cam and the socketif cam is on while parked

if 12 v socket turns OFF when car is off-
you need a backup cam battery ( LIFOS) to power cam if its on while parked

    if hardwired to fuses
you need a battery manager if cam is on while parked
