Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Lethargic in attack

Resuming where we left off last season

    Right wing is a wasteland

    What's this actually?

Previously the keeper had to play the ball out of the box from the goal kick now the defender can literally stand beside them and play it inside the box

The exact same problem that has existed for years. Another window I suspect it won't be addressed.

    Some nice interplay there

That touch from Matic was pure class

Don't think we have even had a shot on target yet apart from a weak one by Pereira.

Nevermind protests about the Glazers or Woodward. There should be protests about the right wing at this stage.

Makes sense that something was changed. Under the old rules, if the defender touched it inside the box it just had to be taken again.

Surprised it wasn't used as a time wasting ploy on occasion.

  • Folks continue to rave about Chong

I've seen nothing from him in every opportunity he's been given thus far

Someone should remind Perth it's a friendly.

    Very dirty team

Now I remember why I seldom watch pre season friendles. They tell us nothing, just a chance to see the team train.

Is Pogba there? I thought he was listed on the bench but haven’t seen him.

Some crazy comments in here about our first friendly of the season.

I'd argue otherwise. It gives some rough indications of tactics are where the gaps should be identified. Problem is the gaps have carried over from multiple seasons.

    The cameraman must be reading

    Just showed him there

    Crazy accurate alright

We're still amazing at breaking teams down :pac:

Also, I'll never get used to "Andy Pereira"

For some reason I have positive memories of the few games he got last season. Could be because he looked like he wanted to win while the rest were apathetically sauntering around the pitch but I’m interested to see how he progresses this season.

With the Europa I presume we will see a fair few youngsters get a run in the groups.

  • Much better from Chong

    Peno surely

    Crazy accurate alright

Yup sell Chong, should be 6-0 up by now despite not playing in 2 months

No that is. What opportunity's has he being given thus far?

Positive is that it looks like we are going to be a pressing team team this year.

    James has serious pace.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭Mahony0509

I'm impressed by how offensive we're playing. I doubt we'll score anytime soon though, Perth playing a lot of men back. Daniel James is very impressive too.

  • James the bright spark, great pace and control when at pace

The general press is high which is good but that weakness on the right is evident again

Bit of a meh game so far

  • Love to know what Irwin really thinks about Utd the club without the MUTV glasses on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,136 ✭✭✭✭Rayne Wooney

No penetration and Perth seem to be biding their time for that one opening on the counter.

We'll get mauled in the premier league playing with 8 inside the 60 yard line, we don’t have the players to play this game.

Interesting to see how the “first team” get on in the second half.

Jones, pereira and rojo must have lost a bet.

    Rojo 😂

What does Bassaka signing mean for Dalot? Are we gonna try him further up on the RW? He’s a lethal crosser. Maybe he will be a back up that can play in two positions , fb and RM?!

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,754 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

Wan Bissaka is going to go down as being one of our best signings in a long time.

    Very nice finish.

    AWB times his tackled brilliantly

    Woo, Rashford!

  • Much improved

    Really like AWB

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,293 ✭✭✭All_in_Flynn

Glimpses already of AWB’s defensive ability. He’s very good at getting a foot to the ball.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

Would love to see Greenwood and Gomes get a goal.

    Greenwood just fluffed his chance

Much better attacking play from this group

  • I'd go with AWB and Dalot in the same team. Let Dalot at the wings

Wan Bissaka is after making more tackles in 20 minutes than young last year

    Very impressed so far

  • Nice feet from Greenwood

  • Excellent from AWB
Always looking to take the defender on

    No bull**** cutting back inside

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,948 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

    Super football in fairness

These lads plying 6 at the back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,535 ✭✭✭Dave0301

Someone better sit Smalling down before the league starts and explain to him how VAR works.

He can't mark a man without having hands all over him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

    Rashford and Greenwood looking bright

Although Perth do seem quite tired so they do.

Definetly a much better second half.

  • Mctominey continues to improve

    Some great forward passing

I really hope he includes more goalscoring in his game, something he wants and would help us a lot.
