Looking to get a 4K Blu-ray player to go with the b8 I got few weeks back. The LG ubk80 looks decent for the money but wondering is the ubk90 worth double the price?
Any suggestions for alternative players and open box all welcome.
    Cheers.

    Hi PC,

thanks for the post and apologies for the delay getting back to you.

I do think that the UBK90 is probably worth the additional as it has twin HDMI and more importantly it supports Dolby Vision - if it mad it easier I can do a £20 Boardie voucher for you on it to take it down to just £179 / E199..

Thanks as ever PCD and keep us posted if we can assist in any way,

    ATVB,

Im leaning towards the ubk80, ill mostly be watching my bluray collection and wont really be buying many new discs.  I might replace some blurays with 4k versions and not sure dolby vision will be available for them. Also as far as i can make out dolby vision requires a 12bit panel?  Is the B8 12bit?

Also the ubk80 is now 89stg so not sure i will get the benefit of the ubk90 for double the price, unless there is an ultra boardie deal...;)

    Hi PCDUB.

I'm not aware of any 12 bit panels at the moment, other than professional Dolby monitors.
UHD Blu Ray only operates in 10 bit colour.

    OLED's are 10bit native and most other LED's are 8bit +2 FRC.

Dolby vision will work on 10 bit but all components need to be Dolby Vision certified.

Best I could offer on the UBK90 would be £175.
