    Mcd announcing something at 2pm.

9am East Coast USA time so perhaps someone American.

The Three is a soulless kip that looks and feels like I'm at a gig in a converted Woodies with terrible sound that echoes around the place.

Decent venue when all the seats are down though and keeps the sound in.

Anyway, will keep an eye for gigs in Cork. Great city for a few beers too.

    I like the 3Arena as a venue,its very compact .

I agree ,the sound is better with all the seats in ,its usually pristine .
Standing gigs are more hit and miss ,but I think alot of that is due to the sound engineers as the lower frequency effects overpower everything else.
The drums are usually the worst offenders .

I think you mentioned before that the First Direct Arena in Leeds ,which is a similar design has curtains at the back of the standing area to dampen the reverberations .
Perhaps the 3Arena could deploy something similar but it would probably reduce the capacity .

Cork is a great city ,its come on alot in the last few years .

    Walking on cars heading it.

Jeez Ash. On second to walking on cars.

Guess walking on cars are more relevant.

    Yeah, money talks..

.. Walking On Cars are selling out 3Arena whereas I don't think Ash sold out their last gig in The Olympia.

Any idea on the prices for this?

Just checked and there are still some on sale in the UK for £26 on better nights. Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday gigs in Ireland.

Cork gig is a Saturday night.

Only saw Therapy? in new Cyprus Avenue, really like it. Feels like a proper venue. The Darkness next month too, Pearl Jem in January

Seems like Coldplay are annoucing a new album , would it be safe to say we could see them back in Croke park? I think they could do Slane no problem but I think its safe to say thats AC/DC's next year

Coldplay play here surprisingly infrequently - and their touring patterns aren't always too predictable.

For e.g., the 2017 Croker gig came two years after the release of the album they were touring as they went to Asia, Australia etc first.

You can guarantee that when they do come back, it'd be Croker (or another big outdoor spot like Slane) but it wouldn't surprise me to see them skip Ireland in 2020 and do it in 2021 or 2022 instead.

I've been hearing "AC/DC for Slane" since 2001

18 years of the same speculative assumptions.

Only time they were ever near to playing the venue was in 2009. There were talks but, Mount Charles decided on Oasis instead

He did say he would get the band to play the venue eventually

Makes sense too book them on what could be there last ever tour

We almost need a thread for confirmed gigs and another one for rumoured/fantasy.

They would see rds as an insult and would refuse to play it. The way they operate is that they play the highest capacity stadium per country and never do more than one gig per country in europe

Yep and there's always a poster who drops the Garth bomb when there's a big announcement due. Which will never happen. Outside of the irony of me mentioning him, I hope I never have to hear about him unless he does play.

Make hay while the sun shines and all that.. Also, outside of Ireland I doubt anyone goes to their gigs. Baffled by their popularity here.

Seems like MCD are really playing it safe with Malahide and Independent Park this year , I hope they actually bring a proper act to either venue. So 2/5 gigs they are allowed in there are for the teeny boppers unfortunately. Mad how belsonic got Maiden and we get picture this...

Just bought two Thom Yorke tickets for his London show in June, doubt he will have a show here. 70 euro each for standing with delivery and other charges included. I wonder how much they would charge if he plays a show here?

Bought tickets on the Wednesday presale for both of the London gigs, he mixes up setlists a lot, so worth going to both, not taking any chances he won’t play here, and RH had a remarkable 9 year gap in playing gigs here. After Malahide Castle in 2008, their next gig here was in 2017. Whats strange is all other tours prior to that, all got Ireland gigs.

can't imagine watching him playing his new stuff which is really slow and atmospheric (also boring, but that's just, like, my opinion, man) in a big arena.

Nick Cave, absolutely delighted. Any news on a presale?

Didn't even know about the presale, I seem lucky to have got two standing tickets. I was at that radiohead gig in 2017, incredible gig. If he was to play here, I would imagine it would be vicar Street or olympia theatre, seems doubtful, anyway can't wait to see him in that venue in London.

Very possible yeah. His gig in Kilmainham was an overwhleming success so demand may be high. Wouldn't be surprised to see a 2nd date appear at 9.15am on Friday.

I'd better keep an eye out - had a quick look at his itinerary and there's not too many Saturday gigs unless I feel like a trip to Madrid, Stockholm, Birmingham or Munich...

To date, RH have been always been with MCD, so Olympia more likely, i missed out, when they did two gigs at the Olympia in 2003, which were legendary, But don’t think he’s ever had a solo gig here, not with AFP either, so not hopeful of one tbh.

Jesus they woud of really fitted into the Hella Mega tour lineup

Not overly mad about them since the guy from Alakaline Trio joined. Orginal lineup was the best

    Prob Olympia date
