They should hold a show for actual fans they will be wasted at a festival and you cant buy a day ticket youve to either buy a Sunday ticket and hope they are on that day or pay for the whole weekend what a waste of time. Id say Kings of Leon will play EP as well comsidering they are doing the festival circuit around Europe as well

EP is a bit of a juggernaut when it comes to swallowing up acts not seen for a while. Presumably they figure that's the best/safest way to play Ireland, but I would have thought that they could fill a decent sized venue.

They could have played Marlay Park easily. As much as I want to see them im not paying 280 euro for a weekend ticket not including the camping equipment and the tracel up it really is a big f u to their fanbase here , its a great booking for them but yeah announcing a gig thats already sold out is lousy if your a three customer youll be able to buy the last batch of tickets about a month before EP they usually do it every year. Your right as well its just a big pay day for them they couldnt care less in fairness how did MCD not book um for Sunstroke like?

Sunstroke is starting to feel a bit of an afterthought now imo. RATM should be the Sunday headliners of it

Feels like 2020 is only a trial run to see what happens

Hope this is not the route promoters here are going down in terms of nostalgia bands. Imagine Pearl Jam or ACDC etc playing there Irish returns as festival headliners

They are the 4th of september which is a Friday so if you wanted tp go youll have to pay 300 quid cause they dont do day tickets for some reason. Hopefully they do a proper tour but i wouldnt be getting my hopes up at all fair play if you bought an early bird cause they are some act

    Sunstroke happens in mid-June.
RATM aren't in Europe in mid-June.
Sunstroke is a small/mid sized festival.
RATM are playing large festivals where they'll be paid accordingly.

as for Marlay Park, that involves stage construction, different logistics and more work really, and even then there won't be MP gigs in September, when Rage are coming to Europe. Festivals are easier and less hassle, and obviously FR are getting them for several at once. All their gigs appear to be festivals or arenas.

So disappointed that RATM are only playing festival spots for Europe in dates which are at the end of the summer. Would have thought Rage could of easily played a show at the RDS or maybe two or three shows in 3arena/ even one in Belfast for Belsonic. Maybe even some arena shows in the UK which is better than festival spots. The electric picnic show feels as if they are just leaving many of us fans left out in the cold. Many of us who didn't have the opportunity to see them, and many others who have seen them and have waited to see them again. There is a big demand for them and yet understandable the safest money was to play a festival spot here.

Interesting quote from the GAA announcing their profit results. They said there wont be many if any concerts in Croker this year as most big bands arent touring because of Euro 2020 happening across the continent

    :D:confused:

Maybe that's what the band want ?
Only Festivals in the uk and Ireland, A handy trip to Prague to see them headline...
Would be cheaper than going to see them at EP.

Denis Desmond of MCD made a similar remark in a piece in the Irish Times last week too. Suppose we have largely focused on an act playing Croke Park and not factoring in that the other arenas of scale nearby - Amsterdam Arena, Wembley, Stade de France etc - will be out of commission for a while due to the Euros.

Most bands include Croke Park (or similar) as part of an arena tour so if the arenas elsewhere aren't available, others that don't have any football might suffer too by proxy.

    Ah well!

Id say they are going to be paid a fortune to headline it is my only reasoning behind it. Its a bit of a joke you cant buy a ticket for a specific day like every other festival best bet be going to reading or leeds to see them theyve really said f u to all their fans here im sure theyll be back but that could be another couple of years id say. On the Slane thing i dont think thats happening cause it would of been announced before christmas if it was. Id say after everyone giving out about EP's headliners last year they might have actually gone all out this year my guess is They could add Kings of Leon and a wildcard Smashing Pumpkins cause theyve a new album out this year
