In fairness he looks like this role is made for him out there, pre season friendly is a far cry from a wet windy night away to a physical side running at you but the lad is blessed with sublime skills and passing range.

Decent enough first half, Hoever and Lallana the standouts. Salah looking reasonably sharp after the time off, and lovely finish from Bob. Wilson a bit disappointing, just not very involved really, aside from his one shot.

Night and day from Napoli, just so much more energy from everyone. Lallana, Hoever, and Keita with the best performances for me. Gomez has looked good too, especially in that moment where Lovren left him out to dry and he just turned it up a gear to chase the ball down.

I think Allissons problem is that his positioning is so good he rarely needs to make spectacular saves. I mean you'd be hard pressed to compose a highlight reel of him pulling off saves at full stretch whereas with a keeper like Buffon theres loads of them. Allissons starting position is so good that when he does make a save it just looks like bread and butter stuff to him.

Looks confident, doesn't he? Sterling was similar when he first stepped into the first team. Having the balls to just go and play without showing nerves is a hugely important attribute for a young player.

I’m trying to not get excited about Elliott until I see him in a competitive match (same with any youngster) but damn, he looks a real talent and he’s got composure too.
