What's happening on Macken Street this morning?

Macken St is fully closed to traffic (and possibly pedestrians?) this morning by the emergency services (photographs in news articles show fire brigades parked across the road to block it off) and several news articles refer to an ongoing "incident" there. No further information given and The Journal has closed its comment section, which is very unusual in a case like this. Whatever's going on there is clearly something the media don't want to report on.

When this happens with regard to a DART station, it usually implies suicide (or at least attempted suicide) - Macken Street seems like an odd place for this to happen though, unless someone jumped in front of traffic? On the other hand, if it was just a regular accident or collision, this would be reported and they wouldn't be preventing discussion on it. There are numerous other and more unusual possibilities as to what this might be about, given the lack of reporting and comment embargo around it.

Anyone around the area see what's been happening?

Looks like the street is still closed per the AA - any update?

And just to add to the chaos, apparently there's a crash at the crossroads with Macken and Pearse St!

That poor guy has been up on the roof since 7am.

Fire brigade doing a large training exercise on Sir John Rogerson's Quay this afternoon, likely closed the bridge to take pressure off the Quay, as it's been solid all morning with diverted traffic.

Walked by on my way back to work about an hour ago, poor guy is still up there. Hopefully he can be convinced to come down soon.

Bit more detail on reddit, conflicting comments if he's down or not

    Street is reopened.

Hopefully the guy is ok and gets the help he needs.

I presume we can close this thread now.
