Do you think there's a stigma against men showing emotions?

I don't disagree with you Wibbs but from experience I got the impression my gender might have been used as a stick to beat me with. I.E what would a man know about this ect ect.
Yep. That can be an extension of the well dug in notion that Women are mysterious, unknowable and can't be understood by men™(it can go the other direction, but it's less a cultural given and across most cultures too). Men regularly come out with this and women can too with the whole we're mysterious guff. It's utter scutter of course. People, their emotions, drives and needs can be pretty well understood. There can also be the element that some hate the idea that on a few levels they are indeed understandable. It can eat into the I'm somehow special ego idea.

Actually I have generally found when a man says he just doesn't understand women, it's a near certainty he can't understand men either. It's just he's more focussed and aware of his lack of understanding with women.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

The OP specified vulnerable emotions so I guess that is why the thread progressed as it has.

    Fear, anger, jealousy, envy...
