With Climate change (which is the title of this thread, by the way) all of the other issues are immaterial. You can't be wringing your hands about the ills of humanity if there are no humans left.

How are the issues immaterial? You have dictatorships running rackets that control oil prices that are feeding climate change through the burning of fossil fuels, these same dictatorships that have their boot heels on the necks of their own people. You have technological corporate companies decimating land and forest's in the pursuit of minerals to keep these companies in the stock market. Causing wars, literally killing people. Whats the difference? Why no large scale protest over that? Seriously. The issues are no way immaterial if you are talking about the widescale destruction of the planet. You can't pick and choose.

The only thing about the current weather pattern that is dangerous is that you might die of boredom.

Cold baked beans , a blanket and move into a tent. If you have friends you try and convince them to huddle with you for warmth. That's the path to climate sainthood.

What's stopping the government bringing in a law that says all packaging has to be 100% recyclable? The amount of crap that has to be sent to landfill is disgraceful. Companies should be fcuking ashamed of themselves

What's stopping the government from issuing a giant green bond to radically fund public transport?

The Green Party are doing well out of all the hysteria.

Diesel tax cuts were a great idea. Strap in for more virtual signalling policies that backfire.

Well it's most certainly not a good thing to simply do nothing and make things even worse for generations to come.

Their hate crime legislation will do wonders for the environment.

The Greens are as likely to get stuff wrong as right .

The Extinction Rebellion crowd in London were disrupting Public Transport i.e the greenest way to get about .

The actress wan flew from Los Angeles to London and back again to demonstrate for Climate Change .

Some of them at least are as Dumb as Fook .

Do not forget that the Greens Fornicated ( apt use of this word ) with FF not long ago and destroyed this country . How short are Irish people memories .

If the Green Party get into power in a meaningful way, diesel and petrol vehicles will be gradually outlawed. They don’t care what p.c.p. agreement you have.

Diesel in cars is on the way out, no matter who's in Govn't. The green agenda is not the in the sole ownership of the Green party.

Had to laugh when lots of paper fliers for the Green Party came into my apartment block and when I saw their hard plastic election posters everywhere. The irony.:-)

And? Parties are allowed to campaign on more than one thing. The public are aware of their policies. Seems like a pretty positive move to clearly define hate crime btw. Good move. :)

But most European countries have already said that's the long term aim at this point. Car manufacturers are moving away from combustion engines.

Do the Greens really having a fooking clue what to do about Climate Change ?

Does anybody for that matter ?

Human beings will put on a bit of a show or a march / demonstration / kids out of school (lol) but the vast majority will go back to the way they have been living in a very short period of time .

Science and technology are the only possible ways of dealing with climate change . We should be honest about that .

Most people are clearly fine with legislation around hate crime. Maybe you should create a thread rather than discussing your weird feelings on a climate change thread. ;)

It is totally relevant. The green party are far left and using the climate as a trojan horse.

It's not a far left move to legislate on hate crime. In fact, most of our existing parties tend to favour such moves. Now grow up is my primary recommendation for you.

Awesome. You'd have no trouble with hate crime legislation then as hate crimes require acts which are treated as crimes in criminal law, such as assaults, theft, criminal damage, arson or murder. Nothing to do with free speech.

Now let's get back to climate change.

It is all down to technology going forward. Its as simple as that. No carbon taxes or trying to change the way we live will have any meaningful impact. We have to hope that the technology improves quickly.
My hope is the 2020s we will see great strides in this. The decade of the green revolution.

There is already more than enough legislation to cover hate crimes. The call for further legislation is clearly for the purposes of restricting free speech. Free speech destroys far left and far right politics.

you are confusing hate speech legislation with hate crimes legislation. How exactly will hate crime legislation restrict free speech?

It's a diversion, lets discuss the pollution, waste and loss of natural habitat and how to tackle the real issues.

Seven (soon to be eight) billion humans many engaged in excessive consumerism is the root cause, all good for business, that's what we're up against.

Business leaders are doing their level best to convert the non-consumers into consumers to increase the trade in stuff and speed up the quarry to landfill conveyor belt even faster.

What else could it’s purpose be. What hate crime is not covered under current legislation?

After sorting out the excessive population growth and re-educating consumers not to buy and throw away short lived "disposable" products.

This thread is about climate change hysteria, not pollution.

Anyway, it's the sun that is responsible for Earth's temperature and not man-made CO2 emissions.

The solar minimum has arrived sooner than expected and will result in a decades long cooling of the planet.
