2nd time buyer conditions?

I am wondering if I am a 2nd time buyer with a partner and we go for a mortgage would I have to necessarily occupy the second property with a partner as I plan on occupying the first property ? I'm guessing this is not the case as I already have a mortgage by myself and many people have multiple mortgages ?
