More like <40,<45,<50 as we have 14% vrt and 4% of extra vat which takes up most of the grants we have

The car under the cloth is the Turquoise one.

60, 55, 50 before grants. This is certainly not the next beetle.

is that a guess or are you at the event?

at €40-50k the price gap to a new highline golf is simply bizarre.

yet another plaything for early adopters while manufacturers work to improve the range and price.

Lads any confirmed prices from the event , there is a 10k range above here...

If you want a play thing get a Golf R it's cheaper and goes further and will give a Tesla a good run for it's money.

Just to avoid confusion... That's for the 1st edition only which is not the entry level model.
I know the thread is about the launch edition but some may not have twigged that distinction.

And thats for the mid battery size. Imagine what the long range max is going to cost before grants!

No.. Just the <40,<45,<50 for the 1st edition that we already know.

Pricing will not be made available until February, I think they said. Will be cars made available in Ireland to test drive in June next year - but 1st edition customers will have to commit during an 8 week period in March / April.

The VW finance options are interesting.

    10% deposit and €409 x 36 + 50% GMFV with a 1.9% APR which is attractive.

So, lets say the cheapest one is €38k you could put in €3800 + €14724 for a total of €18524 over 3 years... €6174/yr
And then of course decide if you want to buy out that 50% GMFV or not.

How many Kms is that for ?

This calculation doesnt make sense as 18524 is less than 50%.

the PCP offer of 10% deposit and €409/mo for 36 months doesn't seem that bad on the face of it. 50% balloon at the end or just hand the keys back. Makes a commodity out of the car and helps buyers see past the list prices.

    @ 4:52, the monthly payment is €429.

too expensive for a non-premium car.
you'll have to be putting aside money for deposit on your next car as there is no way you'll be buying out the PCP on this car.

Still less than 50% with 10% deposit.

40% cheaper to build than e-golf.

They will make money on this car just by selling them.
They will scoop up co2 offsets to allow them to sell their other ICE cars in Europe.
It may be an unimpressive car from an car owner perspective but if it does what they expect it to do then it will secure the prosperity of VW in Europe for years to come.

I hope it's not 40% poorer quality than the e-Golf.

No this is just for the ID.3 1st Base. The oft announced sub 30k model will not be available until 2021 at the earliest

We dont know the actual price yet. I took a guess at €38k. Its in the right ball park.

The APR is low at 1.9% so you'll only be paying ~€800 or so in interest.

Maybe €37k is the right figure, that would be closer for the 50% GMFV. As I said, we dont know exactly.... these are ball park figures.

Nice car, plenty of leg room for a mid size hatchback.

Would be a little concerned by rear view, the back window is very small.

Interior is better than expected but not premium.

If VW deliver what they promise it will sell very well, plenty of tea, coffee, water and sandwiches at the event.

Little gift on the way out,1:43 Model ID.3 and a power bank.
    :)

The idea is to keep People on PCP, + the GFMV is designed that it's likely ( though not to be expected ) to have higher than GFMV value at the end.

PCP is great for those who intend to change in 3 years time but People can get caught up in the whole kicking the can down the road thing to avoid paying the balloon at the end and it will end up costing a fortune.

So People should be aware what they are getting into.

I thought the rear window was tiny too. The view out the back of this looked half the size of the hatchback I currently drive. Almost making the rear view camera a necessity :) The lighting in that hangar was too dark and the blue spot lights didn't help either.

Absolutely. The smartest/luckiest companies set-up their schemes so that people can just roll over into a new PCP with the same make and new model without having to pay any additional deposit. No decision needed by the customer come the end of each PCP, just sign on the dotted line sir/madam and we'll have you on your way in your new car....

Just wondering how roomy it actually is in the back, could three average adults travel in reasonable comfort?

Apparently the the leg-room in the back is about the same as a Passat, but the shoulder-room is about the same as a Golf.

The whole point of higher GMFV is so that you don’t have worry about equity at the end. With that new style they’re making the deposit a max of 10 percent (or as little as 0). That way you have little input, and no risk at the end of what equity you’re going to have.

Not a bad product in my eyes as it takes out any current PCP worries.
