I assumed you have to take 10K off the above prices.

    Assuming it's as simple as price / 1.16 * 1.23 * 1.14 - 10,000 then it results in

    Model|Germany|Ireland|
    Pro Performance|€35,574.95|€33,002.75|
    Life|€37,787.72|€35,677.54|

most of these variants do not have pre-heating or dual zone also they come with steel wheels and flat grey as standard.

Looks as if the 1st prebookers are getting screwed when compared to these prices.

What’s the side by side price of the ID.3 1st edition in Germany v Ireland after grants?

Take 9,480 of each of the German prices, they've gone for a flat subsidy

My German is not very good, but it looks like the 1st after grants price in Germany starts at €35506. Not sure if any delivery etc extras.

    No, 10k is already excluded.

    liamog wrote: »
Why are you adding the German grant to the non grant German prices?

The ProPerfromance is effectively the ID.3 1st without the special styling, so no way will it come in at 10,000 more than the 1st pre orders.

Because Germans quote prices after grant, in fact similar pricing is used for consumers here.

That made me think, as press release only mentions total bonus o 9480.. but if you google for Umweltbonus then actual bonus is 3k plus 3k COVID payment. This means that VW is "giving" a 3480 bonus from them.

Maybe they claim to give this bonus, but in reality RRP is just inflated?

Basic price before VW bonus is as of today 38.986,72 €, so hidden RRP is
35.506,72 € and Germans pay in effect 29.506,72€ for the car. So if I use my previous calculation on 29.5k it arrived at 37k, but if I use 6k grant (on German side) then I arrive 32.9k which is pretty close. It may suggest that VW bonus is mudding waters for German consumers.

It's quoted 3k manufacturer (included in the price) and then you apply for the other 6k from BAFA.

Price now is 16% Mehrwertsteuer (VAT) that will go back to 19% after Dec 31st.

Invoice price before tax has to be under 40k to qualify.

Either the entry level ID.3 Pro Performance has seen a €10,000 increase in price across Europe when the Germans introduced a new incentive scheme, or your calculations are off.

This is the BAFA list price

Ok so a little more digging, the German Grant is €6,000 for car's with a list price of < €40,000 and €5,000 for car's listed > €40,000.
The environmental bonus currently consists of a premium granted by the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA), Unit 422, Frankfurter Straße 29-35, 65760 Eschborn, www.BAFA.de, as well as a premium granted by Volkswagen AG. Inclusion on the BAFA list of eligible electric vehicles is part of the approval process. The payment of the BAFA's share will only be made after a positive decision of the application you have made. The environmental bonus ends with the exhaustion of the funds provided, no later than 31.12.2025. The innovation premium is to be pursued for a limited period of time until 31.12.2021. There is no legal claim. For more information, contact your Volkswagen partner. The sum currently consists of €3,000 state. Funding and €3,480 (€3,000 excl. VAT) Manufacturer's share. The manufacturer's share(Volkswagenshare) is automatically deducted from the net list price and thus reduces the statutory sales tax (currently 16% and 480 € respectively). This manufacturer's environmental bonus is only available for vehicles with registration in Germany.

So their is the list price of €30,668.07 (which is €35,574.95 / 1.16) so that is the VAT free price. What's not clear is whether the BAFA price includes the €3,000 manufacturer share. That would make the ID.3 Performance Pro model cost either €33,002.77 or €37,209.37 here.
The current ID.3 Performance Pro 1st is listed on Volkswagen DE as €38,986.72 inc. the manufacturer contribution, which leads me to believe the €33 number is probably correct for Ireland.

It’s before BAFA :) BAFA is totally seperate for DE cars as you can also buy cars for the EU market

Yes, but BAFA gives us an idea of the list and VAT free price, so as an indicator it's not the worst in the world :D

Tomorrow (Wednesday) is I think the end of the 4 week ordering window, will be interesting to see when ordering will start for the non-firsts.

I can see prices for these being very similar or just a few hundred more expensive than the firsts, spec for spec, with the only advantage of a few badges and perhaps 2 tone paint for the early orders.

If not a lot of people will not be happy.

When others are comparing 1st prices to the non 1st are they forgetting 3 months,
I don't think there is anything stopping a 1st (cash) buyer getting the 3 months deal and then paying rest with cash cancelling the PCP or whatever.

Would mean they get a better price.

The cost of non first should only be compared with 1st when public.
look how much the 1st price changed over the last 10 months

This is something that occurred to me, would there not be a penalty for early payment? (wish I had the cash to consider it further)

The configurator for series production opens on July 20th in "many European countries". If you are choosing between a 1st and a series model it looks like the 1st will be slightly cheaper for the 1st and 1st Plus, but the 1st Max looks to be really bad value. As mentioned, the 3 months of free payments will also take another fair whack off the price and I expect you'll only get the series model as a 211 plate here.

And for those not availing of the free 3 months there is also discount available on VW charge point or free servicing/maintenance.

I see the ID.3 is not listed as an option on the SEAI home charger grant. When i contacted the SEAI to get it added, their reply was that VW are the only ones who can get it added. I'm going to email VW now and ask them to get it added.

Yes that’s right, I got on to VW about this and they said it’ll be the beginning of August before the ID3 is added.

Thanks, I'd have imagined this could have been done long ago. Still if its listed for the beginning of August that should be no problem.

Can I ask for a link to this information. I mail VW and got a reply that the 1st movers club benefits are "dependent on various elements of your order" and pointed me back to the dealer who hasn't been great with info.

Is the 3 month free only for the leasing deal or is covering PCP plan too?

A copy and paste from the EMail from VW at start of ordering window:

Finally, for those Pre-Bookers who order their ID.3 1st within the 4-week order window and take delivery before 1st November 2020, they will be eligible to join the ID.3 ‘1st Movers Club'*. These 1st Mover Club members will be able to choose from the following incentives:
    - For customers who purchase their ID.3 1st via VWFS PCP, VWFS ID.Plan or VWFS Operational Lease finance options, they will receive their first 3 months finance payments free-of-charge.
-For customers who purchase their ID.3 1st with a Volkswagen Financial Services Hire Purchase agreement or via alternative means such as without Volkswagen finance, they can choose between a €1,000 contribution (incl. VAT) towards an ID.Charger Wallbox or alternatively, a free 3-year service and maintenance plan.

Battery Life is making a video today about the German prices, be interesting to compare to the above figures. Doesnt sound good for people as you say giving money to them a year ago for what?!

VW made a right bags of this. From what I’m seeing very little benefit in buying the 1st.

That's a massive understatement, all the prices above were based on the assumption that the prices quoted were after grants, my German is a little rusty but this German says the ID3 life is 28k after grants in Germany.

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 7,933 Mod ✭✭✭✭liamog

In fairness, some of us were pointing out that those were not the after grant prices in Germany

I work out that if the base model will cost under 30k i.e €29,995 then the step up from 100kw to 150kw and 46kwh to 58 is €6500
At 19% VAT in the new year the lowest spec 150kw/58kwh id3 which is basically empty of all extras will cost €36495 in Germany.
The motor costs them no more so you are paying €6500 for 12kwh of extra battery.
