I have been banned for a month on the A&P forum (practically the only forum I participate to, given the fact that I have very little time due to business commitments) by Moderator Graham (with the concurrent censorship on the thread of Moderator L1011) for these two posts:
    https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin//showpost.php?p=110078855&postcount=16
    https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin//showpost.php?p=109950815&postcount=11

on the same thread. Obviously the moderators do not like political discourse, when
political ideology is the main driver on the attempted amendments to this bill that is a massive change of regulations that is going to affect every tenants, landlord, student, holiday maker in Ireland (and both moderators know it).

I shall just repeat that what I stated by PM to L1011 about the hard left parties that are trying to further push their political agenda against private property in this bill:

    Quote:

This is a final warning to stop.

I refer you to the following article about Boyd Barret:
    https://www.workersliberty.org/story...rxism%E2%80%9D
I am just stating a fact in my post, political discourse is still free and of public interest in Ireland and should not be censored in this forum (even if it might offend some people). Boyd Barrett ideology and belonging to a marxist organization is definitely influencing in a practical way how property rights are legislated in Ireland (which is definitely in the scope of the property forum) and other forum readers should understand the agenda of this person given the fact that he is in the Housing Committee of the Dail and he is directly influencing such an important bill.
Mr Barrett defines himself a trotskyist and a trotskyist is a communist.

The same applies to SF and their ideology about policies on housing (which again is definitely relevant in this forum):
    https://www.sinnfein.ie/what-sinn-fein-stands-for
"Sinn Fein is a 32-County party striving for an end to partition on the island of Ireland and the establishment of a democratic socialist republic"
Sinn Fein is well know to support hard core socialist governments:

If the moderators do not like the content of the two posts linked above (which are not against guidelines), they are free to reply to them like many do criticizing the parts they do not like, but without using their moderator status to ban or censor. I read the forum charter and Political Correctness is not part of it.

I do not like euphemisms and language that conceals the thruth (straight plain English is that PBP has a communist ideology and SF has a socialist ideology), even if the truth might offend some people, especially when it explains very well the actions of their representatives with respect to the bill discussed in the thread which is very much in the public interest.

I am therefore asking for this absurd ban on A&P to be removed and ask L1011 and Graham to abstain from interfering again on political grounds in the thread above.

This forum deals with your appeal against your ban. You do not get to control content posted in any thread or forum by others including moderators

The first step pf the dispute process is to try and resolve your dispute directly with the mod who banned you. Have you done this?

    Hi GGTrek,

My understanding of this issue is that there are two things at play:

    1. You have been repeatedly asked to stop using terms like "communist" and "commie" etc in your posts, which you have declined to do.
    2. You have demanded that you be allowed to post freely without moderator intervention.

Regarding point (1), it is within the purview of forum moderators to have a rule preventing the use of certain language or terminology. Many forums specifically do this, and in fact, boards.ie as a whole does this via the swear filter. In many forums, violating that rule will result in an immediate sanction, such as a warning or infraction. In this instance, your reasons for using such language are irrelevant as you have been asked, by moderator instruction, to stop using them. To continue to do so is to fail to abide by the rules, and the consequence of that will always be a moderator sanction. You may disagree with the rule, but that doesn't mean it will be changed.

Regarding point (2), a user cannot simply demand that they be allowed to post in a way that violates rules, as you did when you posted:
Finally if there is another attempt at censorship on political grounds (political ideology has a big influence on the attempted amendments to this bill) on this important thread about a massive change of regulations that is going to affect every tenants, landlord, student, holiday maker in Ireland, the censoring this time will be escalated to the boards.ie helpdesk to be removed: I am dead serious.

Using the Helpdesk or the DRP are completely within your right, but it is not acceptable to use them as a means to intimidate moderators into doing what you want.

The A&P mods have told me that you are a good contributor to the forum and your contributions are well thought out and generally well received. However, even other users have voiced displeasure at your continued use of language that could be considered inflammatory.

The ban that you received was mostly related to your threat that you would not tolerate being subject to forum rules. While I am willing to discuss a reduction in the length of the ban with the A&P moderators, I must first make this clear: Any reduction in the length of your ban will be dependent on your agreement to abide by forum rules, as all users do. This means agreeing not to use language that moderators have highlighted as being unacceptable. Do you agree to that condition?
