Since the mail from Leinster says tickets for that match will be refunded, I assume that means they've given up on it.

It wouldn't have gone ahead with fans either way so maybe they're refunding on that basis anyway. Think EPCR still intends to play the game anyway unless this change between now and then

The media reports of derbies followed by a final aren't figment of the journos imagination. They are getting that from people within IRFU or one of the provinces. It has been discussed as a way of finalising the season by the Pro14 powers that be so certain games won't be happening, and others such as the Munster game will be BCD, likewise Sarries game

I'm inclined to agree with this.

The draft timetable that the Irish Times published last week looks more and more real with these developments.

I'm due nearly €400 in refunds in that case. Holy ****, I spend way too much on rugby. And that's not including the flights and hotels I've already been refunded for.

If pro rugby is to have any chance of surviving, we need to keep the broadcasters on side. What you're suggesting would bankrupt us very, very quickly.

Oh yeah I know that, would just be a cool thing to have

Someone on a pod said derbies were for full match points but other games were being classed as 2 point draws.

I'd say the unions backed it too with clubs in agreement. It's the only way back that i can see thats viable

It's interestinbg reading that article on the 42 advocating Carbery at 15 for Ireland to get another playmaker on the field outside the 10. It's something that Leinster will really be lacking going forward as well if they're going to persist with Henshaw and Ringrose in the centre and Larmour at fullback. None of them is really the type of player to deliver a pass under pressure that unlocks a defence. It'd have to be a concern against the very best opposition.

Of the three, Ringrose is actually a technically excellent passer. He's well able to execute good passes. But I still wouldn't really think of him as a 'playmaker'. He doesn't really have the vision and decision making to put someone into a hole with a pass. I think it is a bit of a deficiency in his game.

    Suppose we'll see what happens.

Is the team meant to be bad or good?

Because this team is a mix of absolute legends and absolute flops! Where is Kirchener, Goodman, Berqueist,

It's not "most tanned leinster XV" or gorgeous Rob would be first on the list ;)

Think I'd stick with Henshaw and Ringose for now, even if they haven't ever really clicked as a partnership.

I'd probably be looking to Keenan or Frawley at fullback to be the second playmaker.

So what did people indicate in the questionnaire today, out of curiousity?

It seemed to imply at the end you almost locked yourself into a decision, but I presume that is not the case.

Yeah it was an odd one, it said questionnaire but it was just one question and there’s been no real details on the membership Not even a price so it’s a bit rich asking people if they’d put the money toward that.

I went for the third option, money was always gone as far as I was concerned. Prefer to see it going to supporting the branch through this.

    Leinster's best NIQ XXIII?

That's pretty tough, especially the back row....

    VDM Strauss Bent
    Fardy Hines
    Jowitt Auva'a Elsom

    Whitaker Gopperth
    Contenpomi Te'o
    Lowe Nacewa Tomane

Dundon, OLR, Wright, Triggs, ???, JGP, Berne, Kirchner

Cant think of a 4th back row tbh. Fardy could move to 6 with Truggs coming into the starting XV and Jowitt dropping to the bench. There are a bunch of 2nd rows that I can think of, none of whom though really stood out over the other. Douglas or Sykes would be the best of them.

Was young enough so maybe I’m remembering wrong but I’d pick David Holwell over Gopperth if contepomi is playing 12. Spooner was alright too

I don’t. Basically it was a tactic the England rugby union team started using in early 2000’s with Johnny Wilkinson. It was then a rugby league tactic imported into Union and made widespread after Ben Cohen And Dan Luger scored a few tries off it. I seem to remember it first being used on the Lions around that time also. Always hated the tactic for that reason.

The kids that employ it nowadays are akin to showing off to their fathers how good they are without really having any conscience Or rugby knowledge about how it came about and what it represents.

The cross field kick is an additional attacking ploy which for example a 10 can use to exploit space out wide or in order to get by a defence, defences dominate the game nowadays

    What are you talking about?

So because it was used by league it shouldnt be used in Union???? or because it was used by English?

When executed correctly it is very effective tactic. Ross Byrne one of the best in World at it as well
