Josh Charles is playing hubby to Gretchen Carlson.

The Good Wife vet will recur in Showtime’s forthcoming limited series The Loudest Voice, starring Russell Crowe as Fox News founder Roger Ailes.

Charles will portray Casey Close, the spouse of former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson (Naomi Watts) and a well-known sports agent. In the series — based on Gabriel Sherman’s book The Loudest Voice in the Room — Close tries to comfort his rattled wife and reassure her that her situation at Fox isn’t as bad as she thinks.

An all star cast lead by Russell Crowe & Naomi Watts.

    Russell Crowe as Roger Ailes
    Naomi Watts as Gretchen Carlson
    Seth MacFarlane as Brian Lewis
    Sienna Miller as Beth Ailes
    Simon McBurney as Rupert Murdoch
    Annabelle Wallis as Laurie Luhn
    Aleksa Palladino as Judy
    Barry Watson as Lachlan Murdoch
    Josh Charles as Casey Close
This seven-part limited series is about Roger Ailes, the founder of Fox News. It focuses on the past decade in which Ailes arguably became the Republican Party's de facto leader, and the sexual harassment accusations that brought his career to an end.

    Might be worth checking out.

The first 3 episodes director has history on lots of shows including The Handmaid's Tale. Looks like she's the main director for the full first season of the upcoming Marvel TV Series: Falcon & Winter Soldier:

First episode was a few days ago, very interesting. Crowe as Ailes is strange to see, but effective, good acting all round, definitely worth a watch so far.

Actually didn't take to it myself. Found it superficial and quite disjointed. Crowe is OK but it's absolutely all about him and thought there was weak characterisation everywhere else. Disappointed as Tom McCarthy (Spotlight) is involved in the writing.

Episode two is about 911 and the aftermath, I didn't realize how influential Ailes was in basically starting the second Gulf War.

I thought the second episode was very good too.

finding it underwhelming, seem to be a lot of time spent on Crowe's brooding, Murdoch is played a bit lame, was his voice ever that high?

Episode 3 down and it really is quite scary how this one man was able to shape the mindset of America.

The power of TV really is scary.

scary because they put scary music underneath it?

scary because they put scary music underneath it?

Yeap, again this IS a TV show.

Of course, Ailes at the helm at Fox News did change the game in terms of filtering and delivering the news, to people who liked what it had to say. CNN et all have copied these tactics with mixed results.

However, the show appears to be losing the run of itself in painting Ailes as the worst person in American history. There is very little depth and nuance here. No real effort to understanding the man, just blunt instruments to hook the viewer in.
It's like everything bad about America is this man's fault. If only if it were so easy.

OK, the show itself is not going to examine the complexity of the financial system, worldwide terrorism, the changing media, and global trade but still, I guess a bogey man sells ratings (oh the pun). There are Americans out there who think this is a documentary!

Saying all that the show is good and has its merits, very well acted as well but it's as subtle as a chainsaw.

I enjoyed it, via RTE Player. You could see the dominos being lined up in the later episodes. The guy knew how to throw a grenade or two.
