I dropped in and they told me the mortgage advisor would call me in a few days.
He did. Told him I wanted some information.
Il get back to you in a few days he said
Never bothered his bollox to ring since

Who knows. Maybe he was sick and had to take a couple of weeks off. Or had a family emergency. Or went to Disneyland. Or maybe he just forgot.
You probably need the bank more than they need you. Than can afford to drag their feet about some call backs for whatever reason. I’m assuming you can’t afford to buy a house without a mortgage. Maybe ring again and ask to discuss.

How about you get off your hole and pick up the phone yourself .

It's either important to you or it's not..

For the amount I need a personal loan might be more suitable. Probably realised he wouldn't make a commission from me so didn't bother after that

With the interest rates on a personal loan vs on a mortgage, if you’re borrowing more than €30k (if that’s still the minimum mortgage), a mortgage will always be more suitable.

If it's not at the top of your list, why on earth would it be the top of his?

Not with the legal fees apparently. Anyway that's why I called in. To find out. But I didn't find out because he didn't ring back.

Probably because it's his job. Just a guess I suppose.
Do you work in the public sector by any chance?

Nope. But when I was getting my mortgage I hounded the poor people in the bank. Because it was important to me but I was one of hundreds of customers to them.

The only real solution here is burn the bank down. That'll teach 'em

If bank don't want your business, use another bank. I wouldn't agree with this idea of it being normal to have to chase them up.
Sure once you are locked into it, you might have some chasing to do but when they are looking to get business, they should be doing the running.

Dont forget to hang round to see the look on the guys face that was supposed to ring you back...maybe console him with the words 'I hope HR ring you back soon with an alternative place of work, be a shame to be waiting on an important call'
