The big problem is it's getting close to every year that they have to do a complete u-turn on the past 6 months in Jan / Feb because Vince thinks he has to try to get as many nostalgic big names as high up the Mania card as possible.

It's no coincidence Wrestlemania 17 was the last one truly well received, it was the last one that was all about building up to a huge championship match between the two current top stars. The only sign of "Legends" was in the comedy battle royale.

And that's the only place legends belong. By making the past a bit of a laugh you're pointing out how serious the present is. Contrast to now constantly bringing them back for your biggest show makes a joke of the present instead. So you might get a boost on one off sales from a few die-hard fans still living in 1999 but you are damaging the product long-term guaranteed.

Interesting that Vince has changed the tag-line they churn out 357 times a week from "the grandest stage of them all" to "the showcase of the immortals".

The former suggests the pinnacle of the sport where the best take on the best. The latter suggests a bunch of old-fogies doing a cashgrab on the overly-nostalgic. Which better describes modern Wrestlemanias?

    Can't argue with the numbers.

Goldberg Creates WWE Social Media History

WWE announced during last night's Raw that a pic of Goldberg holding the Universal Title (posted right after last week's Super ShowDown event) has become the most-liked in the promotion's social media history.

I think they're sick of listening to us/the internet.

They gave us the trinity of wins that people were desperate for last year with Seth, Becky and Kofi.

Fans turned on Seth pretty quick and were beginning to turn on Kofi by Summerslam. Becky somehow stayed popular. But numbers kept going down and The Fiend did nothing to address that so now they're in a "Fùck the fans" phase.

Or at least "Fùck the vocal minority of fans." phase.
