Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

And meanwhile you have other goals being fought for by multiple teams.

Yes only two for the title, but competition for other things throughout the league.

I can't remember the last race with more than 2 teams involved.

I reckon positions 3-8 will all be close enough. Wolves & Leicester will probably push on and Everton look like they made some decent additions, they will be one to watch if the players get quickly

I'm thinking 5 teams fighting for fourth, myself.

Liverpool hammered West Ham on the opening day last season, could of had a few more last night if they were arsed, so could of city today. Not much has changed, up to spurs and arsenal to make it more competitive.

Andy Gray and Richard Keys having it out all day on Bein Sport over VAR. Some gas stuff, Zola was caught in the middle of them for the early game and couldnt get a word in, was just sat there pissing himself laughing.

    Andy really doesn't like VAR.

The two lads are dinosaurs, I had them on for the charity shield last week and it was hilarious, they havent moved with the times at all.

Only watched the last 15 minutes of the Palace Everton game but feels like I've just watched 90. A 0-0 game and not a single shot attempted from either team in the final 15 minutes.

Well after 90 painful minutes I can confirm, Everton are still very much Everton.

Wonder if spurs have a refund or exchange on that new stadium

    Sissoko is so incredibly poor.

‘‘Tis a nice stadium to be far but hopefully villa can keep it quiet even if Eriksen comes on.

Villa were ridiculed somewhat for spending £33m on Mings, but he's looked absolutely unbeatable so far.

    Some effort from Sissoko

Wasn't it more like £26M? He looks decent but has lots of cover around him.

Villa look solid and compact enough but they need to keep the ball better. They could tire here.

Sissoko is a bizarre player. He looks like he's never kicked a ball half of the time.

He cost a lot less than that. People always highlight his fee (26m iirc) but as the commentary team pointed out even that is in part based on success while at the club. As things stand Wesley is still the record signing I think

Oh, I'm just repeating what the commentary team said - I don't really care enough to check the actual fee. He's just looked really good today.

2 brilliant saves by Heaton .

All came from Grealish fannying about on the ball and getting dispossessed.

Put your house on Kane-o for the golden boot:P

Not for the first time either. He's done it 3 times at least.

I think most villa fans don’t expect us to be beating teams like Spurs at their place even if most of that match looked surprisingly like it could happen.

Pleased for Ndombele to get off to a good start. Still has plenty more levels, which he started to show glimpses of once he got confidence from his goal.

Strange lineup for Arsenal. Some excellent options from the bench though.

Pretty much one way traffic at St James but for the Newcastle domination they’ve only had one chance, hitting the post, final ball leaving a lot to be desired. As I type Arsenal miss a sitter.

Newcastle caught with two players at the beck in position there a rake of them caught upfield easy for Arsenal but a nice finish. Keeper did go down a little easier then expected though.

Where was the Newcastle centre halves for that goal? Terrible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,834 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Jeez if Atkinson let’s that go Arsenal could have been in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,834 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

How isn’t that a booking, Jesus, gah and ball in a different post code and attacking player on a clear break at speed... ahhh Atkinson

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    Pepe coming on for Arsenal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

The Willems sub has had like a reverse Eriksen effect to Newcastle where since hes introduction they've been noticeably worse.

Btw I'm amazed at how poor the Chelsea team look on paper.

Clive Owen now shilling for Betfair.

Also looks like he has been eating a lot of peanuts.

Good result for Arsenal. Pepe and Aubameyang look like they will develop a good relationship as the season progresses. Thought Mkhitaryan was poor.

Saint-Maximin did some nice things when he came on. Joelinton battled hard and did the Rondon role of last season well. All depends how they do against sides around their level.

United should win this game now looking at both line ups. Lampard leaving Pulisic and Kante (not fully fit?) Out is a bit of an odd choice.

Kante on the bench Jorginho starting if that was a Sarri pick he would be booed out of the stadium

    That Chelsea team

Fancy United to beat Frank Lampard's Chelsea today. Too much inexperience throughout Frank Lampard's Chelsea team I think. The best United and Frank Lampard's Chelsea will finish this season is 4th but wouldn't surprise me if neither team made CL football.

Can see Chelsea getting the win.

Kante has been injured, and only made one 28-minute appearance in the preseason - that was last weekend.

Very interested in seeing Abraham, not sure he's good enough for a top 6 team. But open to being proved wrong.

Really? Even with their best player on the bench and Abraham and Mount getting a game?

Abraham and Mount are good players. And Solskjaer is out of his depth.

Hope I'm wrong but I see United carrying on from where they left off last season.

Very inexperienced though. And if Solskjaer is out of his depth what's Lampard? At least Ole has experience in the PL.

Edit: and it's in Old Trafford.

Fair point but Lampard's Championship record much better than Solskjaer.

    Abraham very close there.
