The problem is for XBOX are those who bought a Playstation 4 over the XBOX 1 how will they get them back Playstation have bigger exclusives and all the XBox exclusives are on PC also

I bought ps4 first, then bought Xbox for Forza. Last year I bought Xbox one x and packed up ps4 for storage in my man cave.
Each has their own needs. Just because it's exclusive, does not mean it's stronger. In fact, people should buy consoles according to what they want to play, not because one or another party has more of them. For someone like me Forza and State of Decoy 2 are the games I really love. Spiderman on PS4 for example does not interest me.
The game pass on Xbox one on the other hand already won me over as the first console to get next gen, with time I will get new PlayStation too. I always get all consoles each generation. PC is always going to be in my life, even if atm it is collecting dust.

I someone is going to go up next gen they more then likely going to go up with the current console they have. Some do change some get both but not that many to see Xbox to see the ground they lost last time

Why are we fighting about the Xbox versus Playstation when Nintendo clearly curb stomped them both?

Wait till Sega get back in the console market....Nintendo will be running for the hills.....think about a true successor to the masterpiece that was the 32X!

Just to re-emphasise how good Breath of the Wild is for those who haven’t played it: if a time traveller arrived and offered me a copy of either Cyberpunk or the BotW sequel, I’d grab the new Zelda from him before he finished the sentence and push him right back into his goddamn time hole.

Nintendo are sort of their own thing and are just always better than everyone else.

Finally got around to watching a good few of the trailers (didn't watch any of the Nintendo ones, don't have a Nintendo console, nor the PC ones for that matter, aside from that Zoo one which looks amazing).

There was a lot mentioned, and I've a fine list of games I'm looking forward to, including Age of Empires 2 DE, Psychonauts 2, Dying Light 2 looked amazing, Borderlands 3 of course, Chivalry 2 looks beautiful, Avengers looks promising. But I had to make special mention of a few I've seen so far. Watchdogs Legion is, well, it doesn't appear as hipstery, but still a far cry from the sequel I want (same tone as the first one). Will keep an eye but it's lost behind a mountain of other good looking games.

Aside from the gorgeous looking Cyberpunk which is right up there at the top of my hype list, it's joined by Ghostwire Tokyo which came out of nowhere and immediately piqued my interest (helped of course by the amazing Ikumi Nakamura, but it's the only new IP that's genuinely got me excited. While I'm also really looking forward to Gods and Monsters (because the AC: Odyssey team is behind it, my 2nd place GOTY last year). I've loads of faith in this game.

Elden Ring didn't give us much, but I'll be keeping an eye on this too. Similarly, I am really looking forward to playing Roller Champions, looks like a right laugh, maybe the next Rocket League! Finally, and I only saw it last night, was the trailer for Battlewake on PSVR. Looks like a single player Sea of Thieves in VR, I am excite.

The switch actually has a pretty incredible year ahead of it. Unlike near everything else at the show everything Nintendo showed is out this year or within the next 9 months bar zelda.

Also think Sony are very clever to skip E3. MS announced a new console which has gotten lost in the bluster of the rest of E3. Sony now can unveil the PS5 during a quite period and grab headlines.

Did Sony not announce their next console two weeks ago?

I think they confirmed it, but didn't announce it. I'd imagine Retr0 is saying that it will be announced and revealed to much fanfare during a quiet time!

Yeah mark cerny just mentioned specs on a podcast. I'd say Sony have a big launch event lined up with a release date.

Are you talking about the wired interview or something else.

They didn't give much in that.

Sony were right to skip e3. The details of the ps5 they gave a few weeks ago took the wind out of MS sails when they basically said yeah we're doing the same.

The hype will be crazy come next e3 and PSX for Sony. They're much bigger then xbox anyway so that's to be expected. Outsold them worldwide by more then double.

They were ahead by much more when the 360 took the wind out of their sails. Don't count anyone out.

Just in case it went under the radar, there's a tactics game set in the Dark Crystal universe coming to Switch. Looks set to tie in with the Netflix series, Age of Resistance.

Another I missed initially, is Empire of Sin - a mafia tactics/strategy game from John Romero.

Was watching a Youtube video review of this and the head of Bethesda came out to talk about Fallout 76. He got a real enthusiastic reception, lots of claps and cheers. I for one thought this was odd.
Do they hand pick the audience?

They're 'Videogame Journalists'. The animal rights groups wouldn't allow seals, so they had to compromise.

A significant chunk of attendees at the keynotes will be various employees of the company, the makeup of which will depend on the publisher in question. The folk sitting at the front who are often captured on film and via the mics will be there for a reason.

I think Sony and MS have both learned from past mistakes (PS3 & Xbox One).
I've a feeling the next gen will be the closest in terms of specs and capabilities.

Absolute nonsense. Sony certainly won this generation, no one would argue that based on sales, but to say that it is to be expected as Sony are bigger is crazy talk.

Microsoft had the wrong people in-charge from 2009 - 2013 when the Xbox One was being developed. The world was not ready for an always on service in 2013 but Mircosoft were forward thinking. If the Xbox One launched today, it would be accepted with open arms. Physical sales of games has dropped 80% in the last 5 or so years. Everyone buys digital now and with the introduction of Games Pass and other like for like services, no one needs to buy physical copies anymore. Microsoft were just a few years to early.

As much as it will pain Sony fans to hear, Microsoft will lead gaming into the future. I can already hear you lighting your torches and sharpening your pitch forks, hear me out… Sony may well be on Par with regards to the hardware being used in the next generation of consoles, but one that that Sony can’t do, is offer proper streaming services and proper servers to run along side their hardware. Microsoft are pushing xCloud and with their Azure servers means that gaming can truly look to the future.

Sony, know this. Only last month Sony signed a partnership with Microsoft to use their online services and Azure servers in exchange for suppling image sensors. A deal I feel will benefit Sony more than Microsoft. I would like to add, I am completely in favour of the two companies working together. It can only make gaming stronger and I am always in favour of that.

Sony are riding on a wave built on the success of their Playstation 4, and rightly so. They did a better job with the current generation and deserve all the success it has brought. I will say though, if the shoe was on the other foot and it was Sony in Microsoft’s predicament a few years ago, I am not so sure Sony could have dug themselves out on the bottomless pit as fast as Microsoft did.

The majority of this Xbox resurgence was pricing the One S correctly, releasing the worlds most powerful console in the One X and getting Phil Spencer on board. He has completely overhauled the Microsoft Gaming division and has changed how Microsoft treat gaming as a whole. I do feel that when the dust settles, the next generation of consoles along with xCloud/Streaming is going to change gaming forever.

People just need to stop looking at gaming either through green tinted or blue tinted glasses and get behind both companies. I personally don’t have a Playstation and have always had Xbox, but that doesn’t mean I don’t support or admire Sony. We need both companies to be successful for the good of gaming and to help drive forward.

My own take is that VR is likely to emerge as the next big thing, PSVR already has the head start on that and has some incredible experiences so far and it's only getting better (Blood & Truth taking the No 1 spot against all other games is proof that it's no longer being seen as a gimmick).

I'm way more hyped for what the next generation will bring for that alone, over anything the next Xbox/PS console will be capable of in terms of processing/graphics. I think it has ruined flat screen gaming for me a bit :D

I completely agree with your post, and I think ultimately MS and Sony have reached the point where having learnt from their own and each other's mistakes, and with technology being where it is, MS and Sony are veering off in different directions regarding what they want to offer. MS are going for bang-for-your-buck with Gamepass and Xcloud, and Sony are going for VR and quality of games (not a dig at Xbox's exclusives, just pointing out what Sony are focusing on). And ultimately it's the consumer who wins, as while the fight for supremacy between PS3/360 and PS4/XB1 was a tough battle for both, the decision was mostly one or the other for gamers and there was little reason to have both. Now I can fully envisage myself having a PS5 but also an Xcloud/Gamepass subscription (with or without the console).

I see VR as remaining a nice gimmick to have but not setting the world alight just yet. Blood and Truth only hit the top of the charts as it's a slow sales period and it's the only big budget game on the device.

It's only going to get better and better though, developers are finally figuring out how to create really good immersive games for it. I wouldn't brush B&T's success off that easily, you still have to consider the install base of PSVR vs users of every other console. For a PSVR game to beat everything else across all consoles (including "AAA" games like Days Gone etc) is a great achievement.

Well another e3 done and dusted and still no sign of a trailer for Legend of dragoon 2/legend of dragoon remaster, I live in hope for next year, although they might be keeping it as the gem up their sleeve for a next gen release.

I saw a panzer dragoon over the last week!
    Is that something similar? :)
