On the other hand... The lack of tedium simulator Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC is a good argument for PC gaming :p

    Exactly!
    Cut-scene skipping!
    Fast Travelling!
    Super speed horses!

Ah stop, they'll never bring it over, will they? :D

Not having to feed or brush horses, no gun degradation, remove all the cores and just have simple meters for health & dead eye, stop me from losing my F*CKING HAT ALL THE TIME... And that's just off the top of my head having not played the game in over 6 months.

I actually completed it and have recently tried to replay it.
It's faults become so much more visible.
    It's a chore.

I couldn't even finish it the first time. Was a big disappointment for me cause I loved the first one.

I usually play on PC, and only have an original XB1, not the X version, and I found the visual quality and low frame-rate really annoying.

It played brilliant on the One X.

Regarding hat. A new one is always on horse. But maybe you changed hat to non stock one. I'm not sure if you find non stock one on horse.

How about the Malaria mechanic from Far Cry 2!

Thought RDR2 was very average, the mechanics, which pretty much boiled down to shooting things, were pretty much standard stuff from R*. They havent changed in years at this point.

And personally i didnt find the world interesting enough to overcome the above

R* open world games are not without their merit but ultimately I can't stand their modern games and I think this guy summed it up exactly the issues I have with it.

Tldr : It's open world but on-rails missions that you cannot complete without a minimap. Arbitrary restrictions like "Park the X", then you park it but it says "No not there, exactly HERE!" that makes me wonder why it's even open world at all.

It's probably the most immersive and well realised open world ever created in gaming, such a shame the mechanics they put into it turned it into such a chore to play in.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,468 ✭✭✭marcbrophy

I think it's more a case of too many cooks!
The have 9 studios working on the one project now, rather than 1 or 2 studios working on multiple projects!

Like the world and it's details can't be faulted, but the gameplay mechanics were terrible!
Their first attempt at HDR in a game, was a failure.

I think they miss the GTA series producer Leslie Benzies a lot also, that's only showing now!

Loved the the first 2 red deads played them multiple times.
But Jesus Christ the newest one was such a chore to play I gave up after 6hours. Just so many small things wrong with it all the tedious stuff it all added up and turned me right off it.
PC with mods il definitely give it another go.

I'd love a story mod that cuts out all the filler missions, tutorials, overlong shootouts and endless horse riding.

I mean, that'd mean you could start and finish the game in a single two-hour sitting.

The best PC mod for that snoozefest would be:

    >Add/remove programs
    >Uninstall RDR2.exe
