Last few days have all gone above 20°c here in West Clare, today reached 21.4°c despite relentless thick cloud.

Last night was very hard to sleep in, room temp has dropped 1.5°c today thanks to a lack of sun, hopefully tonight will be easier.

Bit if a breeze in cork city and cloudy still. About 17 degrees atm. Was pretty showery this morning / afternoon.

Wild, wet, wilfully windy wakening, with stronger winds forecast.. Today being grocery delivery day these things matter on a practical level! Weather is in charge!

Humidity is stifling this week and wind almost constant. Warm wind is a simple delight,

    West Mayo offshore island

Dull and cool in Dublin... bit refreshing actually.

@Kermit - are you still as forceful about 25 degrees around here today?

Anyone find it particularly hard to sleep last night?

I had no problem all the other warm nights of similar temperature but was sweating and sticky all last night.

    Location South Midlands.

It seems most of the population can't sleep if the temps are over 5c at night in Ireland, just lying in pools of sweat

Ah now that's a bit disingenuous. It's all relative to what we're used to and some people have medical conditions or are elderly. I've chronic asthma.

17/18C at night is unusual in Ireland.

Only reason I’ve been finding difficult to sleep this week is because of bad sunburn. Otherwise, I’ve seen much worse nights to sleep (like that Sep 2016 night I mentioned previously).

Monday to Wednesday were all grand or great days weather wise in Dublin.

No issues in the east Midlands last night for me. Coolest night in the bedroom this week. With pollen levels falling, I left the upstairs windows for a couple of hours in the evening before heading to bed. Bedroom as a very bearable 24.3c going to bed last night. A few nights ago, it was nearer 27c as the windows had been kept closed. In any case, with those higher temps, I just throw off the duvet and all is good in the world. Wearing clothing in bed is a definite no no when nights are warm.

Last week I had my bedroom window left wide open but with curtains drawn.

All good till one morning at around 5am when I was awoken by a crow which

decided to perch in the opening and give a few loud caws before flying off.

Heart-stopping stuff. They're pretty noisy at that hour of the morning.

Windows now just left slightly ajar.

34.0c already at Kew Gardens in the UK right now. Currently higher than any station at this point on 10 August 2003.

I don't like oppressive hot nights either but not having a problem this summer. I have a fan for when it gets too warm because I don't like leaving the windows open. We have no problem in Ireland though compared to abroad and I'm always amazed at the amount of people abroad who have no air conditioning, who make do with fans. That's like having no heating in an Irish winter apart from maybe a small heater. Unthinkable imo!

Horrible day in Tralee. Very wet.

There's sunshine now in Glasnevin and a lot of blue sky. It's 20.7C here now.

Anyone find it particularly hard to sleep last night?

Definitely. It's 18/19 degrees and the humidity was high. The wind seems to start dying down around 8pm so throwing open windows doesn't help as nothing moves.

I'm not a huge fan of heat but by far the worst is when the nights are hot.

Reports of a fine day in North Dublin, almost full sunshine
