Silly of NZ to waste the review earlier. Taylor didn't look out in real time to me.

It looked high up on the pads.

Hmmm.. not working out too well for NZ. Batsmen playing themselves in and then getting out. No big scores and lowish partnerships. What can they do in final 10? You’d think they need at least 250.

NZ just never got going. Will need some special bowling similar to against India to have any chance in this one.

I assumed that NZ would get about 220-230 a while back but England let in some runs near the end.

Good enough score. Let’s see what happens.

Eng will fancy their chances here, which might or might be good for them! NZ to bowl tight, either need early wickets or scoreboard pressure you’ think.

Similar to the Australia chase, if Roy and Bairstow see off the opening 10 overs, it should be easy for England as they are naturally aggressive.

New Zealand need a start like they had against India with Boult and Henry with the new ball.

New Zealand didn't get a huge score but its runs on the board and with the pressure of it being a World Cup Final, they will fancy their chances.

Yes, early wickets are crucial for New Zealand. England can afford to start conservatively here, keep wickets intact, pinch ones and twos with the odd boundary. Less than five an over required.

    NZ so unlucky there

NZ on the receiving end of two wrong calls.

Closely matched soo far, this could go either way as it stands. Very un-Rooootlike dismissal there!

Root looking all out of sorts, 7 from 30 jesus. Though NZ still finding line and length, Morgan needs to get the foot down.

Finally chops one on. NZ well in this now.

    England look doomed.

Eng beginning to choke here, not dead and buried, but really need to steady the ship and kick on now.

Morgan out for 9. England 4 down

Aye they need a decent partnership here or they will be dead and buried.

New Zealand slow bowlers have been the difference here. They have restricted the England batsmen to crumbs.

RTÉ sport reporting 20 mins ago that Eng on way out! When it’s still there to play for. They really should just not cover cricket at all.

Still feel England are most likely to win from here. RR might be at 7 now but Stokes & Buttler were always going to have to dig in and start from scratch.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,254 ✭✭✭VillaMad

Tense. A wicket could change everything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

Aye, very finely balanced right now.

If those two can hang around until the last 5 overs and keep the run rate at around 8 or 9 per over, you'd have to fancy us then.

Buttler the key here, I reckon. He is the only one to have played with fluency. Tough to ask the lower order to come in and hit freely due to the tutgid pitch.

Why does the predictor favour England given they need a much higher run rate then they have so far achieved.

Six wickets in hand I’d be inclined to now given who is at the crease and the runs needed and 6 overs remaining to throw caution to the wind a bit. Try for boundaries so as not to be trying to score 16 off the last.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

Buttler is a big loss there, still well attainable, but a big swing in momentum.

    Going to the wire this

Can't see Stokes taking this home.

For me it was Butler to stick but we'll see

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,254 ✭✭✭VillaMad

    39 off 4 overs needed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,254 ✭✭✭VillaMad

Woakes gone. New Zealand massive favourites now.

All on Ben now you’d have to say, big shots required to bring them back into the running.

Stokes to do a reverse of the T20 WC final?

This is as exciting as cricket gets.

Possibly should have tried a bit more conservative strike...
