    Ok. Connect multimeter across battery and check voltage reading. Should be close to 12 volts. Then check voltage while trying to start it. May drop a couple of volts.
    If this is ok, then connect red lead to positive of battery and black lead to the engine block(one of the bolts securing the starter motor would be fine). You should be reading battery voltage. Also do this while trying to start it. This test was to check engine earth. If this ok then...
    With the black mm lead connected to battery negative connect the red lead to the blue spade terminal at the starter motor solenoid, You should get battery voltage when you try to start it.
