Someone told me they closed and they seem to have no online presence. I thought this place was doing really well?

That's sad news really if it is true. I thought they were doing well and all the guys there were always very helpful.

    such a shame.
They were in a business with a small mark up and every second person would have told them they can get the same stuff cheaper on line.
We bleed our shops dry for a discount and there will be none left soon. Just chain mega stores in business parks.

A big loss. I bought a bike there in December but only got it delivered in March as Cube run random production batches ( I wanted to get in in last years Tax year ) so didn’t mind waiting, lucky I didn’t lose my money.

I guess I won’t be getting my free services. Or will have to go elsewhere if I need to deal with warranty.

That's a shame. I've bought a couple of the kids bikes from them by mail order a few years ago (was looking for Early Rider) and they were super helpful

Bought a bike from them about 5 years ago, helpful throughout the process. Hope the staff get fixed up with new gigs without hassle.

Always a fan, and made an attempt to buy something, even if small whenever I went in. Lovely shop, great staff and a shame all round. There are few other bike shops around I would give my business too after them. Put a huge amount into refurbishing the place before they opened, and really good atmosphere whenever you popped in.

Any recommendations for other shops in that area? Used to use fitzycles :(

I think there will always be a place for small shops that specialise in expert servicing. But we will all need to be prepared to pay much more for labour because that's where they will be making their money!

if you're looking for a nearby shop, hollingsworth would be the closest i guess; though i've never been a customer there so can't comment on them for good or bad. the only reason i ever called in was because they're a genesis dealer.

Shame about fitzcycles, heard it over the weekend. Paul was a gent to deal with. Bought my first "good" bike from them about 7 years ago and couldn't rate them highly enough.

Hollingsworth are only up the road, and Joe Daly's on a little further.

I like Joe Dalys, Hollingsworth I could pass on, the main man is fine but his young lad I have caught out on untruths and its left a sour taste in my mouth, not sure if the one in Templeogue is the same crowd but the person behind the counter there left a sour taste in my mouth as well. Personal opinion of course and plenty of people say lovely things about the place.

I'd skip Hollingsworth tbh. Wouldn't even buy air for my tyres from them. Keep on going to Joe Daly's, way better.

for balance, I think Hollingsworth are great. Got me out of several jams in my time. Bought several bikes from them, and find their servicing to be top class, albeit a bit pricey.

Ive heard some really dodgy tales about the Kilmacud branch. Templeogue is pretty local for me and they're fine. Not amazing, not terrible.

Havent used them too much but Expert Cycles in Rathfarnham village get a good rep. Kinda hidden. Think Bike are now in Terenure too but I've only popped in for a gander at the new store.

I was out cycling one saturday morning when, freakishly, I got 3 punctures in the space of about 40 minutes. All my spare tubes, gone.

I managed to get to Laragh on a slow, stopping every once in a while to pump, thinking I'd be able to get a tube from someone. No one had one. A woman that was there with a group, and who knew of my situation, got chatting to this aul lad who stopped by in a car. Turned out he was in Bray Wheelers and he offered to bring me to a bike shop.

The bike shop he brought me to was Hollingsworth in Kilmacud. When I got there they checked my wheel for nicks (in case the wheel was causing the punctures - it wasn't), fitted a new tube, and gave me a spare, all for free.

That being my experience of them, I find it hard to believe some of the negative stuff, of which very little detail is being provided.

shame about the lads in Fitz, nice lads to deal with but I felt their featured brands were a little off for the majority and at premium pricing they possibly lost the war on bike sales. tough game.

lads in Hollingsworth take a bit of getting to know but cannot fault them for information and for service. their turnaround times were great when in a bind. wouldn't' have a bad word about them.

joe daly's, the same, good solid bike people, know their stuff and all very sound. they teach/train the youngsters well - The Daves are just sound

Indeed, I got a Stevens off them and it was well worth every penny but I can see alot of lads popping in on the B2W and looking for the same Giant or Trek all their mates have.

And I should be clear, it was only one person in both shops that put me off ever going back, and I did give them a second, even third chance as I was often in the area. It's that one guy put me off permanently in the end. If I hadn't of talked to him, I'd probably have nothing but praise for the place.

Audax Dave is brilliant, really knowledgeable, helpful and a credit to the shop. Any young lads I met being trained as well were always good as well in that if they didn't know, they didn't BS you, they went and got someone, which I think made them very trustworthy.

looks like I will be there or the Bike rack going forward.

Pity bout fitz cycles .... I was knocked off my bike by a car on n11 last summer and made my way to fitsz cycles for a wheelset and bike check (As it was nearest shop) ....they were very helpful but their servicing was booked out for almost a week.

I needed a quick fix so they sent me to Hollingsworth kilmacud who were great to deal with and even drove me to work nearby in their van..... it was a lovely gesture as i was a bit rattled after my collision.

Also have purchased stuff from Joe Dalys and always happy with service.
