splitting account into two

Hi, we are buying a property which is connected to electricity but we are only buying the house and it needs to be separated from the farm buildings next door - all currently on the same bill.
We would presumably need an electrician to physically split the areas but is this done by ESB or a separate electrician?
Once done is one side disconnected and will we have to have a whole new connection?
Or can the house remain connected but the account split into two parts?
