    Hi all,

Just wanted to find out what the current boundary is for the city i.e the census for the city every 5 years, where is it defined from?

Looking at Cork they have recently received a much needed expansion in their boundary.

I know there was a merger in 2008, there is a link below to a couple of maps but there isnt anything as completely defined from what i can see, maybe i am just blind so i apologise if its obvious!

There isn't one anymore. Limerick City East, West and North make up the metropolitan area that's now seen as the city.

Is there any way of finding out the population of each of these 3 areas? It seems to be very hard to find any information on it.

This link might help you and curiously the CSO have defined a 'city' area - NOT the same as the LEA.
    http://census.cso.ie/sapmap2016/Results.aspx?Geog_Type=ST2016&Geog_Code=EFED8136-729D-43F0-BF74-FEFE83B62328

Also the merger of Limerick City and County came in 2014, not 2008.

As for finding out the population of each LEA in the metropolitan area, well, a rough guide would be that they each hold a similar population as there are seven Councillors per ward. The number of public reps is based on the population more or less.

You might get more info from this link, it's going into OffiDocs for me - since when is that a thing, that the *.pdf file doesn't open? - I can't view it.

    TL:DR
    94k/3 = 31.3k per LEA

Thanks for the information, very interesting to see the breakdown of population, good to see the true population is over the 100k mark anyway

Any chance your researching the viability of a new service for the city?
