double charges for water?

We are in the middle of a new build.

I was under the impression that Irish water have now taken over the country for new water connections, which in our case is 2272 euros to be connected to the public mains.

On our planning permission the council are looking for 575 euros for public water supply.

This seems like a double charge to me and should have been eliminated when Irish water took over the charging.

Has anyone else been in this situation on their new build?

    Many thanks.

Seems strange. I'm also about to start a new build and I've also gotten the quote from Irish water, same as you, 2272. I assumed that's all I will have to pay too!

I wonder is there some mix up on their part, because Irish water only relatively recently standardised this charge, before that, it seems it was totally random, at the discretion of the local council. As well as that, many areas were under the control of local group water schemes. Is it possible that your site requires extra work (e.g. digging up the road?), but I thought works like that also fall under the standard charge unless its excessive works.

You should probably firstly query it with Irish Water to see if they can shed any light, and then try the Co. Council (finding the right person/dept to talk to could be easier said than done)

Is this extra fee actually mentioned on your PP grant (the C3 form)? The only thing in relation to water that's on mine is I "must enter into an agreement with Irish Water" - but there's no mention of any fees. The only fee mentioned in my PP is the local development contribution charge.

Yes, the contribution cost on the planning permission list 3 things, roads, recreation and amenities , and public water.

The planning is years old, before Irish water was "invented"
