    hi,
I'm looking to get a new mobile plan for an elderly relative of mine and I was wondering if anyone knew what the best deals are out there at the moment. He doesn't need a phone as we can give him a spare android phone.

He doesn't need unlimited calls, texts, or data as the phone will be mainly used for texting and maybe some local or national calls.
It can be sim-only, pay as you go or Bill pay - I don't mind - whichever is cheaper and easier to use.

For payg, ease of topping up would be important so are there any providers who do "auto top up" etc? Also, what is the minimum top up per month for most carriers?

I've seen a €9 plan on lycamobile but I've no idea what their service is like.

Any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Sean

Many people experience horrendous problems on tesco though. I'd steer clear.

    Pay as you go.
Vodafone require €20 top up every six months.
Gave mobile to an elderly relative a few years ago. Top it up remotely. Checked it recently and he has €95 in unused credit.
