I was recently using google analytics perfectly on my website. I pasted the code directly.

I wanted to use hotjar and i figured to use GTM. I managed to set up hotjar and analytics through Tag Manger but for some reason bounce rate does not show now (showing 0%)

I think i need to set up custom analytics event through GTM saying that if a user doesn't interact (ie click another page) its a bounced session.

If someone could help me i really appreciate :)

    Thanks

I may have read this wrong , but do you have it working via Google Tag Manager ?
and do you have a session timeout value attached to the bounced session.

(tenner says you have this figured out yourself already.)

If it is working via GTM then it's time to setup hotjar.

Does your hotjar tracking code appear on their dashboard ??

what platform are you using ? Shopify, Wordpress, Custom html

Yes i have both analytics and hotjar working through GTM

I think i need to add session duration as there is 0% bounce rate showing atm

also check to see if you are getting metrics for hotjar outbound clicks. if you are recording that correctly then it may simply be a config issue

there are some great faq's for hotjar and the config.

tbh , without a remote session I may not be of much help.
