Mexico had their only knockout victory against Bulgaria in 86, but have lost in the L16 round 7 times since then.

Team news for tonight's World Cup play-off at Hampden Park:

Ukraine XI: Bushchan; Karavayev, Zabarnyi, Matviyenko, Mykolenko; Stepanenko; Yarmolenko, Malinovskyi, Zinchenko, Tsygankov; Yaremchuk.

The winner plays Wales in Cardiff on Sunday for a spot at the World Cup. I'm conflicted about who I want to win this. I like the idea of Scotland vs Wales, but I'd also like to see Ukraine at the finals.

Yarmolenko gives Ukraine the lead. I think they deserve it. They've been the better side so far.

Delighted for them. Incidentally the USSR team of Euro 88 that Ireland faced comprised of mostly Ukrainian players. Igor Belanov - front row second from left who was Centre Forward - and his son now fighting a different battle.

Ukraine have been brilliant. Scotland really have little or no quality. Robertson really their only player that looks like he could make something happen.

Definitely loooked easier to score. Would have been game on, but it’s hard to see them getting too many chances as good as that. Ukraine still dangerous too.

Deserved win for Ukraine who played some nice stuff at times. Wales vs Ukraine on Sunday should be a good game. Ukraine can't afford to butcher the chances they did today.
