Moving to Chicago

    Hi Folks,

    Moving to Aurora in Chicago for work. I have two scenarios:

    Live with a friend in Chicago and commute an hour in and an hour out every day. Rent is 1250 dollars. Get my own place in Aurora and be closer to work 1400 dollars.

    Also any other tips when I move over and things to do. Would like to meet other Irish people over there as well.

    No need to be around Irish people. Time to make new friends in a new country

    Live with the friend for a few months until you get settled. Then you can start looking at places once you have a bit saved for first+last month rent and deposit if needed.

    Is it an hour commute with or without traffic? Two hours each day can take it's toll especially if using public transport or if your job starts early.

    I disagree.
    It's not a bad idea to have Irish friends while living abroad.

    They provide a go support network for each other.

    I lived in New York for 15 years, a lot of socialising revolved around GAA and soccer. Great way to meet people.
