Should beat these boys by multiple goals but 3 points obviously the main objective here and no injuries.

Doherty should really be starting this one.
    There’s goals in him.

McClean is a banker to get booked and miss the Switzerland game isn't he? Prob wouldn't be the worst thing to happen.....

Hopefully a confident 2/3 nil win

Madness that Mick can't work Doherty into the team. Haven't seen the subs bench, is Cullen on it?

Jaysus Doherty should really be starting here. Best performing Irish player last season at a good club and can't make the starting 11.

Be interesting to see how Hogan does

You'd have to think that Rovers or Dundalk would take this lot. Really need to be winning my minimum 3 and at least 70% possession.

I'd rather see O'Dowda on the left tonight. Feels like a missed opportunity.
Hopefully he comes on in the 2nd half.

    Still 0-0

    Mc Carthy out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,335 ✭✭✭sonic85

It's a weak thing to say that a professional footballer can't hit the target there. McGoldrick should be working the keeper from that type of position

About half full and yet when I checked yesterday the cheapest tickets were 35 for the top deck

Seriously top deck should have been no more than a tenner.

Duffy was being a bit optimistic there to put it kindly!

Would love if Ronnie pulled a vocal chord and they had to sub on Brian Kerr

Very frustrating and poor stuff from McCarthy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,335 ✭✭✭sonic85

It all just feels a bit ponderous. Fairly slow start TBH

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,490 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

Surely Doherty could give LB a shot

We seem to be playing a 4-2-4 which you’d give top marks to the ambition of Mick and co but the 6 don’t seem to have the talent or ambition to feed ball into the front four, 15 mins in and it’s looking very hard work, against... Gibraltar.

    Dour enough stuff so far.

This is toothless so far in terms of any attacking play from us.

He will probably give him a run out in the second half. That's assuming we have a comfortable lead at that point.

    Offside again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,490 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

Mcclean shouting for the ball off Duffy there yet standing still directly behind a Gibraltar player.

    Brilliant

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,385 ✭✭✭Nerdlingr

Is Hogan ever gone stay onside?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,005 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Ronnie is gone blind, wasn’t offside.

McClean is horribly left-footed. Has the turning circle of a bus when running with the ball constantly on his left.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,200 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Nice little bit of play there at last.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,335 ✭✭✭sonic85

It feels a bit like a friendly or a game with nothing at stake rather than a must win qualifier

I'd expect to see better in the local park. I feel sorry for the poor eejits who actually paid into this.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,640 ✭✭✭TheCitizen

Hogan looks unfit. Maguire would’ve been a better choice. This has been a very poor start and entirely down to the poor selection from the manager

You know it's the same cycle before every single Ireland game for me. You somehow forget that we're an awful team to watch, you convince yourself that this time it'll be different and 'sure, we'll stuff this lot - they're all butchers and postmen'.

Then 20 minutes, you remember just how sh1te we are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,490 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

    Poor miss

Finally a GREAT delivery, Robison our best player so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,335 ✭✭✭sonic85

How did Hogan not get something on that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,553 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

The central midfielders wont look for the ball into feet anywhere near the centre of the pitch.

Down the wing and cross seems to be the plan...against Gibraltar

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,067 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

    Worst game in a while

Any shot on target against Gibraltar?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,009 ✭✭✭Tangatagamadda Chaddabinga Bonga Bungo

All our strickers in the squad have no international goals.

Is sound bloke Delaney is his VIP box?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,200 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

A little spark of something there from Robinson. Like to get him on the ball more.

We're so bad at failing to take advantage of literally just being a bunch of professional footballers. Instead of playing at a higher tempo and quicker passing than amateurs could keep up with, we slow down to their pace.
