Yea, Lacey is the irrational one. My (and other Ulster fan's) dislike of Clancy is entirely rational.

Will never forget the day he tried to award Leinster a try after the final whistle. Such brazen skullduggery.

Yeah that was hilarious. I mean disgraceful. That was disgraceful.

Wonder is there any risk to Ulster v Leinster?

I'd like to think that the senior panel and academy panel are training entirely separately at the moment to reduce exposure and group sizes.

However there has to be some shared element of equipment, coaching and locations which is a cause for concern. I'd imagine all staff will be tested tomorrow morning if not already.

The were all tested today as part of the scheduled IRFU testing regime. Results due tomorrow.

Even if someone has it, it may not show tomorrow...

The fixture must be well in the balance.

That's going to be the way it goes as we head into the next few months. Players, especially academy players, will most likely be living at home with a family of 4 or 5 people and the virus will transmit.

All that can be done is to minimise the risk and get on with it. Players will continue to be tested regularly. Not much else can be done really.

Maybe, but just like with the Munster case last week, if these tests are clear the match will go ahead.

If any of the Ulster senior squad test positive then presumably the rugby spotlight will turn to Connacht. This is where it could get very messy.

Fingers crossed all concerned who are symptomatic recover fully and quickly

I wouldnt say most academy players do live at home. Most are away for college and not at home and are living together.

The fixture this weekend doesn't matter in any way so it's not the end of the world if it doesn't go ahead.

In the football several players have tested positive in the week leading up to games and the games have gone ahead without them, not sure why this would be any different.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

I tend to agree with Adam. This appears to be a cluster which makes things more murky but we've seen in sport, including rugby, that positive tests do not necessarily lead to postponements.

Jamie Roberts tested positive the week of the game for the Dragons and had obviously been training with the senior squad. It all depends on further results today. If they are negative, I'd be very surprised if the game was cancelled.

For the Edinburgh v Ulster match, will that have to be in Aviva say? Otherwise Ulster would have to quarantine for 14 days on return.

Ulster are UK based. They won't have to quarantine after traveling to another part of the UK. And travel from NI is exempt from the quarantine in Ireland.

You're right about the first bit. Thought exemption was for people already resident in NI but wouldn't count if they had been abroad even if it's UK as UK is not on Ireland's green list. Gets kinda messy if they've been to UK less than 2 weeks beforehand and final is in Aviva against Leinster/Munster.

Scarlets BP win could spell a bit of bother for Munster but anything less for them the result is irrelevant in Munster vs Connacht game. At least Munster will know going into that game what they require if needs be

Leinster vs Munster semi final again, sure it be great

Scarlets win without a BP and Munster getting nothing would see Scarlets go through.

I wouldn't worry, if Connacht make 15 changes Munster will win comfortably.

Dragons home form has been good this season. They already beat Scarlets at home in December. I’d imagine it would be a big ask for a BP. Then again Dragons have nothing to play for.

Doubts you must have, would say Ioda.

Connacht have basically no injuries (SOB, S.Fitz, O'Donnell). Even without startin those who were brillant last week, they should have 8 players who are 1st choice or comparable
(McAlister, Delahunt, Roux, Blade, Fitzgerald, Arnold, Healy, TOH) + the others who are very good 2nd choices (McCoy, Murray, Gallagher, Oliver, Robb, probably Papali'i)

It depends if Irish internationals played last week are completely out or impact players on the bench. In the last case, Munster can be worried

Play the final in Belfast and the problem is solved!

The IRFU will presumably be seeking some form of exemption, otherwise this will be an even bigger problem come the completion of the 6Ns in October and then the November games as well.

Yeah I think LOI teams could only play in green countries afaik but national side got quarantine exemption for Bulgaria away I think so maybe something similar.

Glasgow 7-3 up with almost 20 mins gone. Huw Jones in the bin.
    Edinburgh lineout is a mess.

Jim Hamilton and Ali Kellock on comms are an absolute dose.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Poor enough game. Referee very strict on the breakdown once in the red zone. Edinburgh whistled twice for going off feet 5m from the Glasgow line in the space of 2 minutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

It’s very flat alright, 2 decent backrows on paper but not sparking off each other at all.

Still remain shocked Chris Dean survived the numerous Edinburgh culls over the years, about as beige a player as you’ll see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

50 mins now of Jim Hamilton telling us how strong he is/was when no one has asked.

Dragons owned by the WRU putting out a second string against Scarlets.

Connacht putting out a mostly second string against Munster.

    The Pro14 doesn't help itself.

Should Connacht have gone full strength for both games? With nothing to play for, why should they not treat them as pre season games to have a look at everyone? 5 weeks to new season with no chance of warm up games in between.... Did exactly the right thing IMO

Both have nothing to play for. When new season will short relatively soon and its not likely there will be many chances for games in between why wouldnt they field more experimental sides

Tompkins looking lively for Dragons so far.

Scarlets have turned down 2 kicks at goal so far.

    0-0 after 10 mins

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,974 ✭✭✭connachta

    3-nil
    C'mon Dragons
    Munster would be nicer tomorrow

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,366 ✭✭✭yerrahbah

    7-3 to Scarlets after 20

    Try after a lineout maul

    Definitely look the better side

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,974 ✭✭✭connachta

    No

    10-7 Dragons

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,366 ✭✭✭yerrahbah

Dragons under pressure at scrum time and in the maul

14-10 to Scarlets after 30 mins.

Dragons giving away too many penalties

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,641 ✭✭✭Dog Botherer

Scarlets pulling away felt inevitable really

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,366 ✭✭✭yerrahbah

A nice grubber kick and Finish gets the try bonus point for Scarlets.

    26-15 to Scarlets after 57

as it stands Munster need 2 points tomorrow to secure a Semi-Final

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,641 ✭✭✭Dog Botherer

shambolic stuff there to let the Dragons right back in there

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,366 ✭✭✭yerrahbah

    incredibly harsh to disallow that
