Clare GAA County Board chairman, Joe Cooney, will be on the Morning Focus show, tomorrow morning between 9 to 11 am on Clare FM radio.

Some info on what going on re interview with Joe Cooney.

Cooney said collective training begins for the Clare senior hurlers begins 1st December. Nonsense. Teams that failed to qualify for the knock-out stages of the 2019 All-Ireland hurling championship series, namely Clare, Waterford, Galway and Carlow can begin training on this Friday, November 15th.

However when the presenter Gavin Grace asked whether Brian Lohan is the right man for the Clare senior hurlers to the county chairman, he failed to answer that question directly saying "clubs and supporters must get behind the new manager" guff.

His hollow appreciation of Donal Moloney and Gerry O'Connor's efforts involved in Clare hurling, will certainly touch a raw nerve with Clare supporters.

Cooney also was reticent on whether the media will be allowed to attend county board meetings in the future.

Finally he wanted to paint the picture that its a huge outlay that has to go into preparations for county teams and facilities, which we certainly did not need to be lectured on. He also defended the Caherlohan centre of excellence as "good value for money".

More questions than answers after this interview for sure.

Great news coming in from Ballyagran, in the Munster Post Primary Schools U16.5 B Hurling Championship final between St Josephs Tulla and Presentation College Mardyke.

The finals score was St Joseph's Tulla 3-20 Presentation College Mardyke 1-6

A great win indeed from the East Clare school. Congrats to both players, their parents, management and those who took time away from teaching to support these inspirational young men. Brilliant stuff indeed

The Under 16.5 C hurling competition final, could be contested by 2 Clare schools. That's if St Caimins Shannon can overcome St Augustines of Waterford tomorrow at Mallow in the second semi-final. Ennistymon CBS have already secured their place in the 22nd of November final.

Great work being done at underage level in Clare hurling again. Thank God that Brian Coffey will be the Clare minor hurling manager for 2020. He will be working with many of those players that played today for Tulla today and with the likes of Ennistymon CBS, Ard Scoil Ris who got to the A final in that age grade against St Colmans Fermoy etc.

We will never get a better opportunity to win a Munster and All-Ireland minor hurling championship in 2020. The minor class of 2020 have been called the best bunch of players that we have produced in the hurling development squads since 2011. Coffey will get the best out of those young lads, I'm certain of that. Fingers crossed anyways.

Could be struggle next year with Sean O'Donoghue also gone and Aaron Fitzgerald injured. I wonder will Gordon Kelly and David Tubridy retire?

Serious blow, Colm Collins will need to use all his managerial nous to keep the banner in the second division, he is not afraid to blood youth and hopefully a few new names will come to the fore

Would like to see Joe McGann, Aidan McGuane, Aidan Davidson on panel next year. Dermot Coughlan will be back fit and hopefully Keelan Sexton commits for the whole season.

Ya they should all make positive contributions, unfortunately Brennan is irreplaceable, he has been the corner stone of the rise of Clare football in the past 6 years.

I believe that Emmet McMahon (Kildysart) is definitely on the Clare senior football panel already, ahead of the upcoming season. Possibly Shane Meehan also I believe, I could be wrong, but like Emmet, he will be part of Micheal Neylon's Clare U20 football panel for 2020.

Personally re Gary's decision to take a year's sabbatical from the Clare senior football panel, this break from GAA could be be best thing for his body. I 100% plus agree that long term, this decision is the best for Brennan, so that he can continue playing GAA for club and county beyond the next 9 to 12 months. He has also shipped a lot of punishment, mainly to his honesty and commitment on the playing fields and has had a few injuries to deal with as a result.

Gary will be back playing for Clare, Ballyea and Clondegad again most certainly. Short term though, if Clare finish 6th or better in Division 2 of the NFL, then that will be one of Colm Collins' finest achievements as Clare senior football manager. The loss of Gary, Jamie Malone, Sean O'Donoghue and Aaron Fitzgerald, plus the possible retirements of Tubs and Gordon Kelly, for the upcoming season, will make 2020 a very challenging year for Clare senior footballers.

Is Gary 31 or 32 now?Himself and Malone would account for 6 or 7 points a game.I thought Tubs & Gordon have committed.

Lads there is loads of good young lads coming through, when Brennan and Tubridy made intercounty debuts they were just out of school, there was nothing to come through for years after

Clare will have to manage without the two at some stage, this offers an excellent chance to several players coming through the development squads

What's the main realistic aim for clare football??

Number 1 surely is avoiding relegation to division 3, something I feel we are well capable of without Brennan

Gary is roughly 29, Tubridy is 31 but both have been on the scene for around 10 years now

You can add a couple of years onto each player.

Between International Rules, Ballyea and Clare Football Brennan hasn't had a break in over a decade, hopefully after a few months of rehab he'll be back in time for the championship. To be blunt, it's not a bad thing for the rest of the team not having to rely on him anymore, hopefully a few more will step up to the plate instead of him now.

€8 grand for wifi, 8 f**king grand, they'd supply wifi for all of Tulla for 8 grand

Exactly, it's going to happen sooner or later so now is a good chance for someone else to step up, the players are there to make an impact

According to yesterday's Clare Champion, it appears that Portumna man Sean Treacy will be the Clare senior hurling coach for 2020. He was the coach to the Kildangan hurlers, that reached the Tipperary senior hurling final a few weeks ago.

He also was part of the management team for Portumna, during at least some of the Galway club's glory years, I believe, where from 2006 to 2014, they won 4 All-Ireland club hurling championships. Any poster from Galway about Treacy, style of coaching etc and is he the right fit for the Clare senior hurlers in general, will be most welcome.

Well if it's TRUE it's a good choice done great work with kildangan and his own club portumna.....Sean Treacy hurled for galway late 80s early 90s at full back was full back in d 93 final v kilkenny....

Hopefully he ll improve the teams high fetching. It's a definite weakness. And some pattern of play that doesnt involve a deep lying 7th defender would be great.

Full back has been a massive problem for us last few years if we could get a full back half as good as our manager I'd be happy out

I'd agree 100% with you. The year has to start with David McInerney leaving number 3 behind him. Hes never been truly comfortable there and is not a stopper. He plays the ball way too much. Mike Casey doesnt care if he never touches the ball.Maybe Jack Brown would make a fullback.

It'd be hilarious if it wasn't so ****ed up..

I do hope this is a start or a more forensic and investigative journalism from the Clare champion about the behaviour of the county board

The Liklihood is it was to upgrade the WiFi system, they probably had to rely cables under ground

However it would not surprise me that they just bought a Vodafone WiFi hot-spot and went over there limit of 10G monthly allowance 🙄

Ger Loughnane article in the star 2day
Biggest Shock Clare Failure 2 Build on 2013

He goes on about the wasted talent that there should ave been a few all Ireland's with the golden generation

He also states every team has a lifespan of 5 to 6 years which has now expired for this clare side with no further all Ireland's and not even a munster championship yet he states there was never even a review as to why this was happening he also states heading down a tactical cul de sac, a disastrous county board and lack of ambition are the main reasons

Well hes definitely a 100% correct

Today's defeat is going to sting for a long time for Miltown. A place in a Munster final was in there own hands and they didn't get over the line. They played well in the first half with wind advantage, they took the game to commercials, their kickout strategy worked a treat, they kicked good long range scores and Graham Kelly put in a brilliant half hour, the only worry was that they kicked a few wides and had difficulty with free taking.
They lead by 3 points at halftime and got a soreable free from the throw in for the second half. Eoin Cleary dropped it short and that set the tone for the secondhalf. Miltown defended well but they started to give away cheap possession around their half forward line and commercials began to claw their way back into the contest. Their kickout strategy broke down in the last fifteen minutes and they had to work really hard to get the ball up the field, Commercials eked ahead and Miltown could not get the scores to level it up, frustratingly turning over possession with wrong options and poor skill.
Chances of getting to a munster final don't come around too often espically having home advantage in the semi and this was a massive opportunity lost. Miltown were well capable of winning the game but didn't execute their game plan properly.
Commercials are a big physical team, with some great ball carriers and dangerous forwards and will be many people's favourites against Nemo in the final but it was their for Miltown today but they just couldn't grasp it.
