A great manager for getting out of the division but rubbish at keeping them up.

Back to work on Tuesday, so the least appealingly, to me anyway. Can't drink away the misery or celebrate too hard.

    Hasn't always been that way.
They used to be "in order" i.e. biggest game last.
I was at Gillingham v Wigan back in 2000 and that was followed next day by the Ipswich v Barnsley game. There was no Bank Holiday in Ireland so I flew back and was at work on the Monday. My boss was very tolerant and ignored me as I was slightly worse for wear, and couldn't speak.
After being robbed by the referee the previous year, and ranting for two weeks afterwards about that, I think he understood my relief/joy this time round.

It used to be the other way around. It used to be the Heineken Cup final was on the Saturday and for every Munster win Leeds lost the playoff that weekend. I think with the Champions league switching to the Saturday it makes it more marketable to have both of the richest games on the same day!

Brentford vs Swansea in the play-off final kicks off in a few minutes. Who do you want to see go up?

I'll be behind Swansea seeing as Hourihane is starting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

    Penalty to Brentford early doors.

Very calmly knocked in by Toney to give them the lead.

I wasn't sure about that run-up but he finished it well.

Great counter attack puts Brentford 2-0 up.

Wow what an effort by Toney to nearly make it 3.

    Brentford are on fire.

Tough road back now for Swansea.

Brilliant pass to set up the goal, took his time and picked it out perfectly.

Hopefully Brentford kick on and win comfortably here, I'm sick of seeing the same teams yoyo every second year so it'll be good to have a fresh team in the PL

I think I also prefer Brentford although their manager seems like a dose

Next Man City manager: You lot may all be internationals and have won all the domestic honours there are to win under Pep. But as far as I'm concerned, the first thing you can do for me is to chuck all your medals and all your caps and all your pots and all your pans into the biggest **** dustbin you can find, because you've never won any of them fairly. You've done it all by bloody cheating.

Really hope Brentford don't blow it now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,079 ✭✭✭✭Tom Mann Centuria

All Swansea at the moment without any huge threat.

Hoping for a Brentford win here too. Did so well to get here again considering the departures last season.

Anyone follow the league closely? Are Swansea known for playing attractive football. Haven't looked great so far but unsure if that's the early goal or Brentford doing well defensively.

Woodman's dad of course Cobblers legend Andy Woodman. I was there when we beat Swansea, and look at us now :pac:

Swansea have started the better in this second half, as you might imagine.

Ayew came close with that headed effort.

The Swansea manager looks like Harry Redknapp's nephew from the countryside

    Game over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

What was Fulton playing at there, might have been a slight element of accident in it, but he looked at the man coming across.

Swansea were still playing the better stuff, but it is going to be pretty much impossible now.

Definitely not intentional to make contact like that, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a red card tackle and he was eyeing him up for a tackle anyway. He could have badly injured him there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,502 ✭✭✭kowloonkev

That is a strange one. Not sure what to make of it. Think it was clumsy, and probably a yellow for me.

What a moronic tackle, though I'm not sure he went to do him

I thought it was a definite red, akward but still a red..
    Delighted for Brentford...

Very good manager to get them within a game of promotion. Very little football in that Swansea squad.

They'll burn bright but probably go out very quickly. I can see them looking at the Norwich model of just taking the money. The other two should stay up but you'd be concerned about them.

Great to see a new name in the league, instead of the usual yo-yos.

St. Vincent. Did a fundraiser for them this year, he has family out there.

Happy for Brentford. My work colleague brought Toney in to Wigan for his loan. And he worked at Brentford too and convinced Brentford to bring in Ethan Pinnock. So he's full of smiles tonight!

Didn't see the game, but happy to see Brentford go up. Deserved it over the course of the season, and showed good mental strength to get through the playoffs after last seasons collapse. Be interesting to see how Toney does in the PL.

Feel sorry for the Blackpool lad, 1 minute. Plenty of time to get back into it though I suppose.

Really enjoyable game so far. Blackpool have responded really well to going behind, and have been the best team.

Definitely soft, looked outside the box as well.

Northampton have signed their 3rd player from the Scottish Premier League. Signed the Irish winger Dylan Connolly. Hopefully he turns out to be a decent signing, played over 30 times for St. Mirren last season.
