Pity the Brazil match is on so late, to late for me unfortunately.

    Fancy Brazil to win

    Team news:
Brazil XI: Alisson; Alves, Marquinhos, Silva, Sandro; Arthur, Casemiro; Jesus, Coutinho, Everton, Firmino.

Argentina XI: Armani; Foyth, Pezzella, Otamendi, Tagliafico; De Paul, Paredes, Acuna; Messi, Martinez, Aguero.

Lousy time for what should be a fascinating game. Going to try and catch the first half but not sure I'll be able for the rest.

Think Brazil will do the business. Keen to see how Messi performs.

Apparently Argentina haven't beaten Brazil on their soil since 1998.

Anyone having issues with eir app at the moment?

The amount of errors I got is enormous and now another device locked out so can only watch it on the phone now.

I know it is "free", but was a strong selling point for their broadband. Every time I want to watch there is something not right...

Java. Net error, no Internet connection and then oops something something for last 20 minutes...

It's working for me. I've found it frustrating on previous occasions though. I tend to just keep trying to connect and hoping for the best.

For me it says it is currently under maintenance now.... Was worth waiting, so worth :(

First 8 min and Argentina setting out their hack everything down in sight stall.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,519 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

This is a proper South American match, hacking each other to bits.

Great hit from Paredes there, just dipped a moment too late.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    Paredes very unlucky there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

What a goal. Alves brilliant there. Jesus gets his first tournament goal for Brazil.

    Nicely done by Brazil.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Off the bar from Argentina there.

Firmino at times is a bit too slow when Brazil attack fast, broke down a few times with him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Thought Acuna was going to take a swing at Dani Alves there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,398 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Otamendi has been great for Brazil. Finding their players with passes all half and constantly causing problems for the Argentina back line.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,685 ✭✭✭✭wonski

I have a feeling that's the end of the road for Argentina.

    Brazil much more dangerous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Argentina came back into it for a while but mostly crowded out by Brazil. A few lovely touches from Coutinho but he's been messy with the ball too other times.

Alves booking was ridiculous. Got booked for nearly being whacked by Acuna.

Good game so far, both sides with decent chances.

Think Brazil will find that little bit more in second half, unless Messi Aguero have fire in the bellies after HT

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Coutinho should have scored at one end, Messi hits the post at the other.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,519 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

This is an excellent watch, some spell of pressure from Argentina there!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

2-0 Firmino. That should be it. Great pace from Jesus.

Yeah, don't think they can come out of that now. But they have tried.

Wouldn't be surprised if a red card or two will be shown out of pure frustration.

Finished 2-0. Argentina played well in patches in 2nd half but it always seemed a bit desperate and chasing Brazil really. Jesus the difference, gave Argentina a lot of problems.

    Interesting semi tomorrow.

Jesus and Firmino are a superb pair when playing together, Brazil the deserved winners

    Another international failure for messi

    Another international failure for messi

Maybe he should sack himself as Director of Football

All I can say is that it's a good thing for Brazil that they had VAR switched off for that match. 2 stonewall penalties completely overlooked.

Not staying up for Chile vs Peru but hope Chile win considering Brazil thrashed Peru 5-0 in the group stages.

Yeah, have to think Chile will have too much for Peru. Then again, I thought that about Uruguay too... If Chile score in the first half, it'll be all over I think. And the way they blast out of the traps, i reckon they will.

Gonna watch it, could be fun game.

Eir sorted me today with two extra swaps for devices so at least can watch it easily.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Peru should be 1 up. Cueva misses a great chance.

    C'mon Peru!

Fully deserved lead for Peru. They've started great here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,685 ✭✭✭✭wonski

    The game starts now!

    Peru risk paid out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

2-0! Disaster for Chile keeper there. Great finish though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,497 ✭✭✭ArnoldJRimmer

Fcuking hell, this is some performance by Peru

    That's just crazy....

    What was he up to???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

I think they needed that second goal. Been a great, all energy performance from them. That might waiver a bit in last 20 min or so. Chile being out-Chile'd.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,011 ✭✭✭✭banie01

Peru are really going balls to the wall for this!
The tracking back and aggression from their forwards is winning this for them.
Not the best defensively, but if you are defending in the opponent's half, they have a lot more work to do to score on you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,685 ✭✭✭✭wonski

Just worried Chile wakes up. It is only two goals and a lot of time to do it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,685 ✭✭✭✭wonski

    What a Peruformance :)

    Those forwards are fast.

First 15 min of 2nd half is big for Peru. If they can stop Chile getting up any sort of head of steam, they'll start to get bit more desperate with time running out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

What a counter attack from Peru, not sure how he missed it. Hope they don't come to regret that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,685 ✭✭✭✭wonski

What a miss. Peru should be 3 up now

They did have a bit of luck on their side, too, though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Peru's energy has been great. I thought they'd have faded by now but Chile still struggling to get any space around the box. Chile threatening to do something more than actually doing it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,384 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

Great goal, fair play to them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

3-0!! Guerrero scores. Chile done and dusted.

    Some performance from Peru.

Will support them in the final. Well deserved. Not sure they can beat Brazil, but sure before that game they wouldn't beat Chile :)

    Well done Peru!

Hopefully this gets Ricardo Gareca the Argentina job.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Wow. That sums up Chile's night. Vargas tries a panenka penalty, easily caught by Peruvian keeper.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,685 ✭✭✭✭wonski

Final prove they just couldn't do it.

    Poor penalty.

Has a team won a tournament without conceeding a single goal? If not Brazil could set the benchmark and one that can only be equaled.
