Takes one seriously warped mind to try and use something like this to push a political agenda.

EDIT - see her reply to the above tweet. Nasty piece of work

Coppinger is a fine example of what the Socialist Party are all about, a bunch of maladjusted, miserable bastards.

John Venables & Robert Thompson were named, albeit subsequently given new identities. I imagine if they are named then there may be attacks on the boys families such is the outrage of their actions. Again i doubt their parents raised them to be murderers but at the age of 13 one must question was it a stable background both came from to carry out such a barbaric act.

What is the sentence for murder where a juvenile is concerned? is it still the mandatory life sentence?

I think it was considered, in retrospect, to have been a mistake to have named them.

Clapped sarcastically. Shouted abuse at the Gardaí.

I don't envy the man's position. He was wrong to react in that way and he probably has anger issues but **** me, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near his shoes. Can't imagine the countless emotions going through his head while trying to compute the role his son played in this and what the future holds.

    Not really.

People can have mental illness and no matter how well brought up they are turn out to be bad eggs.

And some people grow up in terrible homes but are completely moral themselves.

Its not a direct cause and effect as you are making out.

This has absolutely nothing to do with mental illness, these boys are not mentally ill.

If it is true the father of one the boys slow clapped its not hard to imagin the sort of influence his home life might have has on the boy.

Just wondering: surely there's no way to keep the perpetrators names from coming out?

Small enough area - everyone will know someone who knows someone etc...

They won't have been at school lately, they'll be absent now and so on.

Then when they get out - Ireland's too small even if they get new identities. Thompson and Venebles were found out in a country of 56 million plus.

They'd have to go to America or oz etc but who's going to take them?

Ah come on will you? The father comes across as angry, petulant and deeply insulting. Is that the recipe for a murderous child? I hope not or society is surely doomed.

Good article, if not heartbreaking. I can't for the life of me understand why a beautiful young girl like her would be isolated and bullied, maybe I'm just completely out of touch with how teenagers are nowadays.
She's not coming back, we can't undo the wrongs that were put upon her, what a world we live in.

Fcuk him. Shouting abuse at Gardai and slow clapping as his murdering son is lead away, all in front of Anna's parents whose poor child was viscously murdered. ****in psychopath.

    Sorry but WTF.
One family have lost their lovely daughter forever.
She is dead and she died a horrific death being assaulted and battered by two scrotes who could live a long life.

And after seeing the behaviour of the other parents then my sympathy is zero for them.
The physical evidence against boy A was overwhelming yet they forced a trial to drag out the hurt for Ana's family.
And the lies from boy B.

They get to visit their kids, they get to talk to them and in less than 10 years they will be out to continue their lives.

They don't have to go to a graveyard to visit them.

The father of Boy B deserves a slap and someone to shove a picture of poor Ana's lifeless body right in front of his eyes to tell him what his innocent boy helped do.

Firstly i'm in no way diminishing what happened to Ana, it was horrific and the boys need to be punished for what they done. , I'm glad her family got justice today and hopefully it can give them a small bit of comfort in a horrible time ,

The 2 boys deserve the firm hand of justice but they have lost there childhood ,teen years and beginning of there adult lives today and rightly so, I feel sympathy for there parents they have to live with the fact the children they raised have done this and there lives have changed forever at 13 years of age,

Remember we have no idea if they where good parent or not ,

Again im not taking anything away form the horrific death of Ana or the hardship this put on her family , Like everyone I wish things like this ever happened in the world we live in

Can't believe the Judge blocked evidence of boy (a) porn searches including childporn .

Can't see anything more than a few years ever being served unfortunately our judicial system is a joke at this stage

I was actually in a taxi last year, and the driver said one of the families had been run out of the neighborhood. Could have been talking **** though.

It would have easily shown he is a sexual deviant - child porn and animal porn shows ones feefed up individual

Whilst there's no way to stop the names being circulated privately - anyone who publishes the names (including on social media) will likely find themselves in court as a result.

I'm sure that everyone in their locality (and plenty further afield as well) know exactly who they are.

Those behaviors dont exist in isolation though, an angry petulant parent is not a recipe for producing a healthy adult.

They didn't lose anything. They chose to willfully and callously murder another child. That's not losing your innocence or something. That's a decision they made.

She didn't look Irish and I believe she was much taller than most boys her age never mind girls.
Just being slightly different is all it takes at that age.

Probably not the sole cause and the internet plays a part but parenting is a huge influence. Only last week I saw a man roaring like a lunatic on the m50 at another driver with his kid in the back seat, that level of aggression gets passed on. Add to that our soft justice system and total lack of accountability and you have some causes as to why this can happen. Also, why aren't students involved in bullying expelled?

She was bullyed relentlessly , shunned by other kids . Shame on every single young person who did this or allowed it happen . Shame on any parent who knew about it and did little to stop it
    Shame on them

The only reason I can think this was appropriate is because none of the images were of Ana and some were of other girls in the locality/school. In that case you're identifying innocent girls in this case.

There's legalities behind everything. I haven't read anything about the images (or the legal argument yet) however it's perfectly normal for something like that to not be allowed because it shows prejudice when none of the images tell us anything about this case.

Does that make sense? Trying to write it down and baby brain isn't doing me any favours!
